Should there be more or less privatization of hospital and healthcare services?
Less, and there should be no privatization of the healthcare industry
Health care is a right in Canada, and currently our hospitals are overcrowded which is resulting in more people going to America for health care (I live in a border city). This money is now leaving the Canadian economy and going to another country. With some privatization, we can allow more people to be treated quickly while freeing up the "free" system. This helps in two ways: keeping money in our economy and quicker access to free health care. People will think they are less important than those who pay for health care, but with our current setup we triage the most important patients anyways, regardless of social status. If a person willing to pay can get an MRI in 2 weeks and it lowers your average wait time from 9 months to 4/5, is that benefitting you or hurting you? The working class would likely have insurance and use the private sector medical care. This will open up free care for anyone who may need it but can't pay. We aren't talking about cutting taxes to public health care, just alleviating the pressure our current system faces daily.
