We should be focused on increasing property taxes, which taxes wealth/ownership and use that to offset a decrease in income taxes which would benefit primarily lower and middle-class income individuals. Obviously the challenge there is that property taxes are managed municipally, whereas income taxes fund provincial and federal coffers. We'd need to work across governments to come to a solution that keeps total tax revenues similar to current state (i.e. part of property taxes would have to go to provincial/federal govt) but this would be beautiful. Long story yes raise taxes but via this method only.
