It depends what this all means and looks like. Ethical to one person might completely neglect what is ethical to another. But we do need to take caution with the rapid growth of AI, what that means in terms of privacy, critical thinking development, and environmental impacts. That being said, it does have a role, time, and place.

Yes but my concern is the rest of the world will get ahead. There are actors in the market that impose fewer regulations. If we let them win then we risk losing control of AI. I believe we should create safety standards that would err more on the liberal side to not hinder innovation.

I don't trust the government to not regulate AI for things like corruption or fraud, but I do support AI regulation for things like protection against sexual violence

Support disclosure for high-impact algorithms (e.g., those affecting elections, hiring, healthcare, or financial services).
Push for independent audits rather than full government access—third-party groups could assess fairness and safety without exposing trade secrets.
Encourage transparency reports where companies explain how their algorithms work in general terms without giving away proprietary code.
Ensure user choice & control so people can opt out of certain algorithm-driven decisions or customize what they see.

I think we should be able to use AI, but at a cost, AI could help humans to make the world better but there has to be a balance if we use it to much of course its going to cause trouble, it will benefit us but there is always a limit
No (because overuse of AI has more negative effects on a society than it does positive. For example, can put many people out of a job due to being replaced by AI)
@B2H27FG3mos3MO
anything that can cause financial gain /loss. I have sought work for over a year, and my resume is in competiton with AI resumes..AI should not be permitted on certain items...If it can gain $$ / Loss %% market...AI can outdo the best stock market trader.
@9TZSC8C7mos7MO
It depends on the AI being used. (chat bots and virtual AI [no], actual robots, who can cause physical damage or intellectual damage [yes] )
@9RBPNXJ9mos9MO
We need to make companies pay for the data they use to train AI, if a person stole from a company they'd be held liable, so it's only fair companies are also held liable.
Government should regulate AI for theft of sources, and consumers should be wary of risks
@9NJMFYZ11mos11MO
No the government should be abolished and let people do what they want
@9MS5K6X11mos11MO
Yes, but only in the interest of ensuring liberal values.
@B4DMP4Z2wks2W
Yes, to where AI is used for like house hold things, basicaly, AI cannot be used for creating something creative, if used for creative things, it should be very heavily regulated
@B4BZR8MConservative3wks3W
i think we should have a panel of tech engineers, professionals and average canadians involved in how or what could or should be regulated with AI
@B49LKNY3wks3W
yes, because this is uncharted territory, and as much as i dont like the canadian government i see its uses, and i have to put a small amount of trust in them to protect our interests, which is making sure my toaster one day isnt tryna kill me
@B2XYXK22mos2MO
I believe the market of ai should be better handled by the government, so it's not held by purely monopolies, and don't believe ethics is a large part of it.
@B2XG4KGConservative2mos2MO
If we give the problem to someone else to solve we won't learn the lesson we need to from solving the problem with our own solution.
@B2TS86R2mos2MO
yes and no because students can be using it and it can be a waste of time but maybe regulating it a bit Incase its teaching people harmful things
@B2SSDPG2mos2MO
There is no way to completely regulate there will always be people that will know how to and want to misuse it
@9WLCRHH6mos6MO
the government shouldn't regulate private companies it should be the company's responsibility to ensure the ethical use of ai.
@9RZPX678mos8MO
to a certain point, AI is new and needs to be corroborated between public, private, and government resources beforehand
@9TV5VL57mos7MO
yes to a degree, they should regulate it to make sure it isn't being used to commit crimes or to harm people (physically, image wise, or mentally, etc.)
