It makes it easier to demonize the other and when you do that heinous actions become rationalized. We need empathy for those that are different in order to prevent tragedies like that from occurring.
Canada is made up of just people like everywhere else. We aren't inherently better than any other people because we are made up of all peoples. Black, white, asian, native, hispanic, male, female and plenty of others. All come from different walks of life and places. We are all Canadians yes but Canada is a land for everyone not just a select few we consider the "in" group.
