That the definition of Family should only matter to each family and that no two are alike. The boundries of that should be respected and religious institutions should stop trying to violate human rights and redefine constructs for those who do not follow that religion.

 @9KX67BNfrom Alberta  agreed…1yr1Y

Religious institutions should not have any authority when it comes to matters of human rights. Freedom to religion is also freedom from religion.

family is the people who raise you and you grow up around. I believe over time I've realized its not just blood relatives and you can gain "family members" through out all of life.

A family is a group of people who are related to each other biologically or through adoption. Typically a nucleus family consists of a mother and a father along with their children. However this is not always possible in some situations such as in single parent households or multifamily households consisting if grandparents and or aunts and uncles or even gay couples. As long as children are raised with love and care by the people responsible for them is what would define a family

 @9T54XB4from Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

A family should be a unit of a couple or single guardian with at least one child.

 @9SZKVH5Liberalfrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

Familialism according to literal definition means a cultural value that emphasizes warm, close, supportive family relationships that family must be prioritized over self, however this has changed over time as I view family as more of a strong support system that allows more emphasize on education, and to be in an economic stabilized environment while raising up their kids to be productive citizens of Canada. In this case, family should not only be limited to blood related members but a family can be those who someone can feel strong trust and a sense of respect also belonging knowing that they’re cooperating with safety laws and being able to live comfortably without worrying about violence or prejudice of any forms.

Family are those that you disagree with but will always sit at the table together none the less.

 @9RBJ6W3New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

The idea of 'family' is fundamentally irrelevant to government; government should largely be concerned with the protection of the rights of individuals.

"Family values" is one of the most toxic and dangerous terms in politics of the last 50 years, and usually just a by-word for homophobia and sexism.
