That the definition of Family should only matter to each family and that no two are alike. The boundries of that should be respected and religious institutions should stop trying to violate human rights and redefine constructs for those who do not follow that religion.

 @9KX67BNfrom Alberta  agreed…8mos8MO

Religious institutions should not have any authority when it comes to matters of human rights. Freedom to religion is also freedom from religion.

A family is a group of people who are related to each other biologically or through adoption. Typically a nucleus family consists of a mother and a father along with their children. However this is not always possible in some situations such as in single parent households or multifamily households consisting if grandparents and or aunts and uncles or even gay couples. As long as children are raised with love and care by the people responsible for them is what would define a family.

Family is those you feel closest and safest with, regardless whether they're relatives or friends. A close and trusted group of friends is as much of a family as those who are genetically related to you.

 @9JYWYHHLiberalfrom Ontario  agreed…9mos9MO

Family is not made by blood but by a connection that when you see your family you feel warm and safe to speak and share your opinion. As well as feel safe to take about hard conversations and laugh at the same time.

I define family as a group of people connected by love, support, and shared experiences, whether through biological ties or chosen relationships. Over time, my definition has expanded beyond blood relations to include close friends and others who provide emotional care and trust.

Family can be chosen, or blood. A family is a community of people who respect each other and are willing to make choices or sacrifices in order to support and benefit their family. It is a undying loyalty even when you don't necessarily like each other. To me my family is the people I know will always be rooting for me even when no one else is.

 @9SZKVH5Liberalfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Familialism according to literal definition means a cultural value that emphasizes warm, close, supportive family relationships that family must be prioritized over self, however this has changed over time as I view family as more of a strong support system that allows more emphasize on education, and to be in an economic stabilized environment while raising up their kids to be productive citizens of Canada. In this case, family should not only be limited to blood related members but a family can be those who someone can feel strong trust and a sense of respect also belonging knowing that they’re cooperating with safety laws and being able to live comfortably without worrying about violence or prejudice of any forms.

Your biological family, but also anyone who matters to you and you would consider close enough to call your family

 @9SZ2Z7PConservativefrom Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

I would describe a family as a group of people living in a home, with a mother and father in marriage overseeing the household.

 @9QS5M9P from Quebec  answered…4mos4MO

I think for most of my life I've thought of family as comprising those people closest to you. The umbrella usually covers romantic partners, close blood relatives and adopted children but there is room for flexibility (very close friends can become part of the family, and wayward children can be kicked out of the family). One can limit the definition of family to only include blood relations, and while I think that's a perfectly valid definition, it's usually of limited utility (if someone asks you about your family, presumably they're interested in learning about the people closest to you, so what good is it to tell them about your estranged biological brother that you've not spoken to in decades?)

 @9QQQS38answered…4mos4MO

To me, family means unity and the strength and bond between members of a household that build the social structure of a nation. Something that is essential for future growth and internal strength.

I thought that family exists in order for us to spend an enjoyable time at first. However, as time passes, I started thinking that family isn’t only for that, but also it is so that we help each other when we get in trouble.

A family is a group of individuals that look out for one another, and love each other through the tough times. Over time, the roles have become less defined.
