No. All religions are a form of cult, regardless of how many people follow them. Political matters must be discussed under no religious influence, especially in a country with many religious views and cultural backgrounds.

 @9HDT45Dfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes they should have the right to freedom of speech to talk about their religion and point of views.

 @9JXPD9Ffrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

traditionally yes, but the church is irrelevant to many now.

 @9K3PMGRfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Laws is a thing that apllies to everyone and shouldn't be able to be altered in anyway with out the governments thoughts.

 @9JXSZDSfrom Alberta  disagreed…1yr1Y

There are many more religions nationally so it is not right to only let the Catholic Church have a say

 @9HH3BRQfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I feel we should let people Marry who they want to marry but we should be educated with catholic backgrounds because it teaches discipline and religion is a wonderful thing to learn

 @9HSG25Qfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

People can believe in whatever they want and they have the right to say whatever they would like as long as it's in a respectful tone. So yes, just be respectful.

i think that if you are getting married and you choose to have a legal marriage as well as a marriage that is recognized by the church. however, the catholic church should not have full say in political acts.

 @9HPQH3Gfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No. Religion should NEVER have a say in political matters unless something threatens the religion as a whole. Religion should never have a say in making laws that takes away rights and freedoms from people's free, personal, and private choices.

 @9HDSZK7from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I think that they should not have any say in these types of laws as they did in the past.

 @9HPLX5Dfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

no! if the catholic church has a say, give every single other religion found in the entire country a say. If you wont allow it, then don't do it. dont be a hypocrite and dont let people who take their stance on life from a book written by about a middle eastern man with a god-complex have say over actual still-existing human lives.

 @9K5QBS9 from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

absolutely not. the catholic church has been proven to be extremely biased and discriminatory, sexist, and extremist. as well as being completely ignorant to outside opinion.

yes because religion matter. It can be more important to people than others but everyone should have a right to voice their opinions

 @9K3V48YNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No because not everyone follows that religion, so they shouldn't have a say in something as important as political matters when it's not their place

 @9JYG2DVfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

no the catholic system is an outdated and corrupt system and should be outcasted from the ability to control laws

 @9JWYQC3 from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I feel that it is a pretty controversial thing. In my personal option no they should not. Yes they can believe what they want but they shouldn't have any power over laws involving the education and marriage of all the people. It is unjustified or unfair for people who do not believe in the faith or go against their beliefs to be punished. So no they should not have a say in political matters involving the whole community.

 @9JWNPWXfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Yes they should as they are humans that run the churches just like any of us.

 @9JVMMNTfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

 @9K5RHCFfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I feel that in a country with a lot of cultural and religious diversity, all religions should have the right to create religious education schools and also have a say in marriages if the couple decides to be married by religious means. but I feel religions should not be able to control the government as the roman catholic church did many years ago unless it directly involves their religion.

 @9JXPF8LLiberalfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

It depends on the people if they want the catholic church to have a say in political matters.

 @9JVN2KNNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Religion should not have a say in the laws. It will get messier than it already is

 @9JV2ZH7from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Religous institutions should not have a say in politics, leave it to the people.

 @9JCNYY3from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No they're acting more important than they actually are. Leave the big decisions like that to the government and higher ups.

 @9K64YTNfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No they shouldn’t because they are obviously going to vote based on opinion not what is right for the country

 @9K3XDN3from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

 @9JZ8DZ4from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No, absolutely not. Secularization in 1982 (I was born 1980) reflected a move away from religion as a dominant source of social mores in the western world. I'm not religious. We are a country of MANY religious traditions and why should the Catholic Church have any say?

This is a democracy and we vote as a country on these matters 😉

 @9JWLH89Conservativefrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I dont really believe religion should be higher than the government. And it's not a necessity to give churches a say in political matters.

 @9JWL9MCNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I think they should because a lot of those religious people and intelligent and have good opinions.

 @9JWKSMZfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

 @9JWGLXYfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No as more people are slowly straying from christianity it seems. So they do not have as much influence, also the people should have the sole vote.

 @9JHJFZGfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

no because we are a multicultural land and with many different religions and idioms.

 @9K5RKG5from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

YES
we shouldn't have any say in the political matters except from when it comes to matters like marriage and education because that's is were we are tending to be cheated in or bullied for because we also have a say in this world and our rights are the same as others.

 @9K544ZPfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No, Canada is not strictly catholic, and it shouldn’t be governed by the church as a result. There are too many other religions to justify the Catholic Church having any power in deciding the law.

 @9JXMLB8from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

 @9JXB5QQfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I believe that Catholicism should have a say in practice, provided that their say is only verbal.

 @9K5R4VQfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

no. the catholic church is very outdated, and has barely changed over the centuries to my knowledge. why evolve society if we're just going to let the same people control us forever?

 @9K2BPBCNew Democraticfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

absolutely not, keep the state and religion seperate. especially because this will also guve the catholic church a lot more power than they deserve, in which a repeat of residential schools will probably happen again, which contradicts freedom of religion.

 @9JZVYL6New Democratic from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No, the Catholic Church and other religious organizations are partisan by nature and should not have a say in the decisions of other people or of nations.

 @9JXP5D4from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

 @9JDSXN9from British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No. Absolutely not. This is only one branch of one major religious group. No authority to the white supremacy that leaks out of the Catholic Church and has poisoned the actual land many of its own victims are told to call home.

 @9JCT4FFLiberalfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

Definitely not religion is different for everyone and not everyone has a religion so why should they have a say in politics.

 @9K4JTLGfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No, just because some people believe in the catholic church does not mean everyone believes in it so why should it effect everyone even those who aren't supportive of it?

 @9JRNSQKfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

I don't think the Catholic church should be a political body, however, they should be able to marry and educate whoever they choose.

 @9K4M34Nfrom British Columbia  answered…1yr1Y

No, there are too many religions to allow just one to make decisions with our government.
