While there are positive implications of healthcare privatization, my counterargument to the "more" position on healthcare privatization highlights potential drawbacks such as disparities in access, fragmentation of care, profit motives, administrative costs, and the risks of compromising health quality for financial gain as well as exponentially drive inequity. Extensive privatization of health often prioritizes those who can afford to pay leaving vulnerable populations such as low-income individuals and those with pre-existing conditions with limited access to essential medical services. Thus, in a privatized system such as in my home country, the Philippines, the ability to pay can become the primary determinant of the quality of care received.
