Should a politician, who has been formerly convicted of a crime, be allowed to run for office?

Yes, as long as the crime does not impact their ability lead in an ethical and unbiased way. If we exclude candidates based on convictions groups that are over-represented in our criminal system will be systematically under represented by our political system.
