There is nothing that infuriates me more about this issue than the fact that there are victims, who are my age who have to suffer consequences that last longer than those of their rapists. A 15-year-old in Austin, Texas could now be forced to keep a child, one that was forced upon her when she was just one herself and if she somehow gets the medical attention that she desperately needs, after returning home (after having needed to travel up to five states over) she is faced with ridicule and hatred because how could she do that? How could she not bring another life into a world that has already treated her so unfairly? Now that’s the easy way, imagine if her family was also pro-life and chose instead of standing by her, they kick her out of their home leaving her stranded on the streets in an already vulnerable and mentally deteriorating situation, while the man who caused her this world of pain gets a couple of months in jail and a slap on the wrist and that’s if she gets lucky with an understanding judge and jury or even makes it to court.
