Should the government raise taxes on the rich?
Lower the income tax rate and remove all existing tax loopholes for large corporations
The most commonly provided argument is that if we raise taxes on corporations and remove their loopholes, that they will simply take their business elsewhere. Production has been outsourced to countries with less strict labour regulations and worse wages (and therefore lower production costs) for decades as is, even with the current loopholes in mind. This does and will happen either way, and is effectively irrelevant to the conversation. The businesses are not also going to move their outlets out of the country, as even if they only have the potential to make HALF of what they currently do, that half is still more than nothing, and their goal is to make as much profit as they can. Shutting down business when there is profit to be made, even marginal, is just poor business, and not historically representative of how any successful business has behaved in the past.
