Every individual has the fundamental right to accessible, safe, affordable, and comfortable transportation.
Privatized transportation systems typically experience a decline in all these crucial aspects, as they hinge on profitability rather than public welfare. Affordability, safety, comfort, and accessibility all depend on adequate funding, which private corporations often seek to minimize. Unfortunately, many existing public transportation systems are becoming more expensive, less safe, less comfortable, and less accessible.
Turning things over to private companies isn't the answer. That'd likely make things even worse. What we need is more government support to make public transportation better, affordable, and open to all.
