Jagmeet Singh, leader of the NPD party, proposes forgiving up to $20,000 of student loan debt and doubling student grants, as well as giving new graduates a five-year grace period for federal loan payments. This is based on the fact that, according to studies, in recent years, numerous students have been unable to repay their academic loans.

in a way include low-income students and lower interest rates.
Yes, and actively work to lower tuition and hold universities accountable for what they charge.
only for those that did good
@8VVKKQL4yrs4Y
yes but you can also just lower the cost

Education is a right not a privilege
Tuition costs are out of control and student debt interest is predatory.
Yes, but only for low income
That could depend on the income of the student.
Yes, but only for Canadian permanent residents
Only if they don't have a job and are unable to pay it or are homeless or are going through a really hard time.
if they are poor absolutely
Yes for Canadian and resident students. For anyone in medical school (doctors or nurses), if the student passes, all tuition and books should be free. If they don't pass, they must pay the full tuition.
Education should be free, in order for Earth to move forward.

I think we need to rethink the education system since degrees are no longer resulting in high paying jobs to support family and then cover student debts. It’s a much larger problem that will continue to happen.. if we forgive debts we will continually have to do this.. might as well reduce education fees.
Depends on the amount of tuition paid... tax break or loan break of 15-20% of the loan taken out would be better because then there's still income coming in from the loans but the students have some reprive.
No, but reduce interest rates for low-income students with excellent grades.

I think it shouldn't be completely removed but the rate should be lowered and students should have more time to pay the dept

No, but reduce interest rates for "less fortunate" and/or financially struggling students
