Not banned but should have to live in it for at least 2 years. Can’t be used for renting or Airbnb

 @LeZeinLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Buying homes in canada should be for residents and citizens of Canada. Higher taxes should be put on foreigners if they are not contributing to the Canadian economy when purchasing properties in canada.

 @B4N3PQSNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…6 days6D

Yes, but limit their purchasing power to their primary residence and enact strict punishment for attempting to circumvent that limit.

 @B4FZTRYLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…2wks2W

I feel as if, the population of foreigners is rapidly increasing to the point it's hard for teens or adults who have lived here their whole life to get jobs and home due to rapid immigration.

 @B4DXJPBfrom Ontario  answered…2wks2W

Yes, but I would prefer a more long-term ban and stricter regulation in general on a permanent basis

 @B4CV7Q6from Ontario  answered…2wks2W

If they are a refugee or immigrant who are planning on staying in Canada, no. but if it's for vacation or temporary housing

 @B472HDCfrom Ontario  answered…3wks3W

Yes, if they are planning to rent out the property instead of living in it themselves. No, if they plan to live in the house as residents.

 @B429TXNfrom Ontario  answered…1mo1MO

They can buy any property they want to buy as long as it isn't government land and as long as they are a permanently residing citizen.

 @B3QNMWTfrom Ontario  answered…1mo1MO

If it isn't their primary residence and strictly for investment purposes, it should be stripped from them. No foreign ownership at all.

 @B3GC2NJfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Ban them from purchasing homes to use as investment properties. Allow them to purchase a home to live in, but not to turn around and sell, or rent out.

 @B3FHVJRfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

People without PR or greater should not be allowed to purchase homes. Canadians and those soon to be Canadians all have been forced to rent, they shouldn't be able to come in and snatch up land.

 @B3DCMJ8from Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Foreigners should be allowed to purchase a primary residence, but not allowed to purchase rental homes for a minimum time period.

 @B399BKDConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

No but there should be limitations and they should have to go through more vetting and background checks.

 @B393GKSfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

if the foreigners are not canadian citizens then yes they should be banned. We have a crisis and the cost of buying a home is unattainable for most canadians

 @B37ZT5Nfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

No. It must be there personal, primary residence, and they are banned from having rental investment property.

 @B36SMWQNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Yes, excluding new immigrants, international students, workers with valid permits, refugees and asylum seekers

 @B36LMM7from Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

No. Otherwise they should be allowed as normal citizens so they become efficient and helpful for the economy

 @B355JWJfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

We have a housing shortage. Foreign investment Needs to stop. Only Canadians should be able to buy a home until the crisis is resolved. Then permanent residents can be considered. No foreign investment whatsoever. It artificially inflates the marker

 @B34T6YFfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Only allow permanent home ownership for permanent residents or residents who have stayed in the country for 2-3 years

 @B2WVT6Ffrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Banned if not primary residence. No investment properties for AT LEAST 2 years after establishing citizenship

 @B2VWCWJfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

We should lessen the amount of immigrants until housing infrastructure is caught up to the current demand

 @B2TN44Tfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

If it is for their own residence then they should be allowed. if its for renting out or property development they should be banned.

 @B2QH5X8from Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

In order to protect housing from foreign corporations and creating a monopoly where it gives a severe economic disadvantage for Canadians who want to buy a house, foreign companies who recently arrived to Canada should not be able to buy any property whatsoever for a minimum of five years.

 @B2L9LJMfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Foreign investors should be Banned, Foreingers as in Immigrants should be allowed to purchase a home like any other canadian.

 @B2L5VZSConservativefrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Foreigners should be able to buy a home, but it should not impact their status as a non citizen, and it should be limited to one home, not multiple.

 @B2KSR4VConservativefrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

If the foreigner is not applying for citizenship and planning on living in Canada, yes they should be banned

 @B2J3DQN from Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, and ban foreigners from buying homes in Canada until they become a permanent resident or a citizen

 @B2GG52Pfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

No, do not stop foreign investment, however, incentives should be given to companies that make sales to Canadian first time home buyers.

 @B2C3RHJfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

No foreign person should own a home on Canadian soil unless a time share is owned or they are a duel citizen

 @B2BP4ZHfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, unless the property they purchase will become their primary residence with the goal of acquiring Canadian citizenship

 @B2B8KY8from Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Provided they are not only renting to their own at ridiculous rents and 10ppl per residence as many are now

 @B29WGJ7Liberalfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Foreign real estate purchases need to be monitored to protect our economy. Vacancies should not be allowed and occupancy rules regarding vacation properties.

 @B28XV9Jfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Yes, this could decrease the attraction of foreign investors possibly reducing inflation from high rent costs

 @B23QKB3 from Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

If they are moving to Canada then they should not have to wait if the they are not there should be extra taxes and fees.

 @9ZQV5PZfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, and purchase of Canadian real estate should permanently be limited to permanent residents and citizens of Canada

 @9ZKQYSWfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, and only if they are planning on using it as passive income. They should be upfront with their intent for the purchase, allowing more Canadian residents to have access to homes.

 @9XCFZ4Zfrom Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

The "Yes, but only if it is their primary residence" is not well written. It is not clear if it means that they will be banned if they are trying to buy a primary residence or if it will be banned, with an exception on if it is their primary residence. Which is my stance: a 2 years ban, unless they are buying a first primary residence

 @9TYSP55from Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

Yes Even if they have dual citizenship and are not living here 60 % of the time, they shpuld not be able to own a house here unless they live here full time.

 @9T7SJTTfrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

No foreign buyers. if you don't live in Canada you can't own a home in Canada, but immigrants should be able to buy their primary residence like anyone else

 @9QW7TQZfrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

It should be illegal to buy and own houses and land. Decommodify housing until there are No homeless people for at least an entire generation (15-20 years)

 @9QPSCNLfrom Ontario  answered…10mos10MO

I believe that if they have a Canadian job they may buy there home after the first 4 months of being in the country.

 @9MH4YWFfrom Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

The existence of a real estate market is inherently problematic and the identity of the owner of land is irrelevant.

 @9KZ78YLfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, foreign buyers should be banned from buying homes in Canada if they do not reside in Canada full-time.

 @9K6HR9Kfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Depends on the minorities, and i believe most of them should be deported. (Non-asian Races and including whole whites.)

 @9K4MLQ8Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

if they get in trouble put them back on the boat, and i think it should be 3 years to make sure there going to stay.

 @9K3M7XPfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

If they have Canadian citizenship or long enough visas , they have a right to buy their own properties

 @9K29PN7Libertarianfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

I personally don’t think any foreigners should be able to buy any more of our land and housing. We’re in a crisis, and we need to take a serious look at how we got here.

 @9JZV4G6Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

If you don't live here, stop having that access. If you aren't living here at least 6 months at a time, you cannot buy.

 @9JHHFFYNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

After citizenship, they should be subjected to the same regulations and restrictions as the rest of canadians.

 @9JC6BKVfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

The issue must lie somewhere in the banking system or zoning laws. If house flipping is happening it means there's economic space and justification for it provided it's profitable, but it may be profitable for the wrong reasons (i.e. being able to draw off the equity or some other systemic issue). It should be possible to expand outward with lower cost housing provided the system is designed in a sensible way that doesn't encourage winner-take-all scenarios.

 @9J2KMBTfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Any person should be allowed to buy a home as long as they have been asked standard background check questions to make sure they are suitable to buy a home.

 @9H4KC4Kfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

People moving to Canada who aren't from here should absolutely be allowed housing, but if the uber-wealthy are abusing their power to buy mansions all around the world while making it harder for residents to afford housing, that should be taxed or monitored in some way.

 @9FH4WZJNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

If they are unsure of how long they are staying; if they intend to stay for a longer period of time, then they should be able to buy a house as soon as possible.

 @9FBDHHNfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9F9MTH2Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

I believe that we have to many people and instead of taxing foreigners we should send them back until our country can have reasonable house pricing.

 @9F7F3FYfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Like everyone else, there should be a limit to how much they can own. People who aren't yet citizens should still be able to buy a home: not entire condo buildings

 @9DX2QRTfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9DSSSMXfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Unless you live here, you can purchase equally as anyone else, you leave the country, tax should be imposed or sell the residence.

 @9FL7SJ9from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No, They should be allowed to buy one house if it is shown that they plan to live and contribute to the economy.

 @9FL6YZRfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

I think it should be at least 3 years for foreigners to be banned from buying homes only because they've bought a lot of houses and left Canadians without a place to buy because of the prices and out of country people buying homes.

 @95J9PCRfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

No. If someone is living in Canada they should be allowed to by a home, if they plan on living in it.

 @9C93JKVfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

I think they should have to stay here a year before putting property in there name like a full house because this would limit out of country people just buying up property and not even be in Canada

For a certain period, they should not be allowed to buy houses, perhaps it could be an investment for them but for many others, it's a life goal. This could help in controlling the prices of houses

 @95H8SM5from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

thats a tough one...not normal people but foreign speculators who destroy our real estate prices need to be dealt with

 @95GVW92Bloc Québécoisfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, foreigners should be banned from owning Canadian housing permanently

 @95GBRSZfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @95DHQWGfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @959CQ6Zfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @9594NQKfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

As a foreigner, I would say no. They should be allowed to buy homes if they earn enough to afford one.

 @958JT4Sfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but restrict flipping and make it a condition that as the buyer you are living in the home.

 @94XTNTHGreenfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

No instead you should only be allowed to purchase a home if you are a citizen and plan to live there or rent it out to other citizens

 @9465XV4Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Shouldn't be banned, but controlled since everyone needs a place to live.
