There is a fine balance between police funding and community programs. There should be more training for police officers, and they do need to have firearms for viloent encounters. However, guns should NOT be the first choice for an officer unless provoked by another gun. There should also be more funding and support for community based programs, and there should be more accesibility to them.

No, but leave the budget for the police intact and draw funding from different parts of the city's budget

not all but some of the funding should go to social and community programs to understand safety and rights protection.

I believe that police should be funded into training- allowing police to learn asl and educated more on citizens needs are a must into becoming a policeman.

No, increase funding for the training of police departments and community programs to create a more positive relationship between the police and the public.

While some funding should be redirected to social and community based programs, efforts should go into the retraining of police and advocacy for non-confrontational and non-violent calls.

 @956JQQ3Conservativefrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

Leave Funding as it is but change how the police system works and how they are trained.

 @8ZR4S7LLiberalfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

No. A balance between funding both police services and social/community based programs should be pursued and implemented.

 @8VST53Wfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, some funds should be redirected, but some funds should be used for better conflict management and de-escalation training

 @8VPTZYGNew Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Relocate partial funding towards unarmed community responders such as social workers and clinicians

 @8VLHD97from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

no, but we should be using these funds to abolish racism and other hate crimes done by police officers.

 @8VD2H4RNew Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Funding for both would be the best and if it was the local police departments spear heading the social and community based programs it would be much better for bonding purposes as well.

 @8R6WMH2New Democraticfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

No, increase funding and training for police departments to integrate social and community based programs into policing.

Funding within the police department should remain, but use funding to educate and properly train officers to be better equipped in all situations, this includes; those with mental illnesses, disabilities and other means of intervention that is not physical.

 @8VNXYZQfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Fund both, you can't solve all problems with fist or words in a complex diverse society

 @8VD6CX4from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Provide funding for local law enforcement departments to spearhead social- and community-based programs
