Yes, reduce the police budget and allocate police evenly across the city. Put funds into stopping sex trafficking, gun violence, etc. Stop over policing some areas over others.

 @B45VMNFConservativefrom Quebec  answered…4wks4W

Our police is relatively useless and do not prioritize protecting the community. Police reform is necessary

 @B45SQLYfrom Quebec  answered…4wks4W

I think we need a balance because police are so important to have . We also need money for social community based programs as long as they aren’t pushing the 🏳️‍🌈 on people . I would tax the rich and use the money from the rich to fund those programs

 @9YNBJYHNew Democraticfrom Quebec  answered…5mos5MO

Yes and no, increase funding for local police departments to educate them but also create social and community-based programs that can deal with different types of situations.

 @9YFZV7Dfrom Quebec  answered…5mos5MO

Shouldn’t be completely redirected but for sure we should set aside some more funds for social and community based programs

 @9YF862Pfrom Quebec  answered…5mos5MO

Deal with problem areas effectively, other areas could probably scale back - look for savings in waste.

 @9TXXY43from Quebec  answered…7mos7MO

Funding should be put into training for RCMP who respond to mental health and wellness checks. They need to learn how to deescalate situations without the use of anything but words.

 @9T8MKVLfrom Quebec  answered…7mos7MO

it needs be done in moderation, cut some funding to redirect back into the community to lower crime rates.

 @9S36KTLNew Democraticfrom Quebec  answered…8mos8MO

We should be training our police better and take some funds to redirect to social and community based programs

 @9NSB2VWfrom Quebec  answered…10mos10MO

No, but there should be an increased partnership btw police and community based responders/specialists relating to mental health crises.

 @9M7TXTXfrom Quebec  answered…12mos12MO

We should fund both for now. If we start funding social communities now, then later we will have less funding in police departments because hopefully by prioritizing societal issues we can decrease crime rates. Hopefully, this change will lead to less police funding. So, I think we have to start funding both so we can achieve a safer community in the future, where we won't need to fund the police

 @9JZP7TYfrom Quebec  answered…1yr1Y

Increase in training must be provided to police officers to deal with non-violent offenders and reduce the use of firearms

 @9FT8RVWfrom Quebec  answered…2yrs2Y

They should have more money for social and community stuff so i would agree with that. but not take a huge chuck on where it would cripple the police and not give them the proper training in results .

 @9FNK8W2New Democraticfrom Quebec  answered…2yrs2Y

Funds can be redirected while also giving more training to the officers to handle certain situations better

 @967LCLVfrom Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

Redirect police funds for better training to prevent violence, as well as saving some funds for community based programmes

 @965PJS8from Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

Fund the police, better trainings and more towards violence related crimes instead of traffic laws

 @964CN25from Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

Police should be trained for longer and get a psychiatric assessment to be sure they are fit for the job,kind and to be able to deal with tougher situations.

 @954ZCRDfrom Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but social and community-based programs should receive more funding and police training should be strengthened by them.

 @94RC6N3from Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

 @92VJXN3from Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

The current funding for police seems fine the way it is, I would neither increase nor decrease it, but more funding should go to social and community based programs

 @92NRJM9from Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8Z79WXYfrom Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

I believe a small portion of police funding could be redirected to social and community based programs. Not completely defunding the police.

 @8YL8VP2from Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8Y799G2from Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

Increase funding for police training while also funding social and community-based programs. (Community-based programs need not be funded by funding for police departments.)

 @8WMZ6CCfrom Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

I think that not all the money should go to the police I think they should at least split it with the community.

 @8W4VQ8Zfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but more funds should be directed to social and community based programs.

 @8VWF869from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

No, we still need police. But stricter punishments and background checks should be implemented on police for the public’s safety.

 @8VTXQQXNew Democraticfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Part of the funding should be redirected but the funding allocated to the police should be used to focus on de-escalation training, especially in higher-risk areas

 @8VTLCRPfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Police should have some funding with additional funding going to other forms of responders

 @8VTDZRYfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

No, the funding should be directed to the training the officers go through

 @8VSN2JDLiberalfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Relook at the training officers receive regarding firearms. Make sure Mental health training is incorporated into training. Have onhand Mental Health specialists.

 @8VS4GM3from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

A portion could be redirected to community programs to help prevent criminal activity but this will not always work for everyone and police will be required.

 @8VRN8GLfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VQ9HB6from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VKNNBWfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Divide between training and new intervention infrastructure so that community outreach professional and police collaborate with a focus on de-escalation and safety.

 @8VHL7RYfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VG4DXLfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Poor communities should have more funding for social and community programs, but I don’t thing defunding the police is the right way to do it.

 @8VFLJ7Nfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VD46V7New Democraticfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

it depends on the severity of crime in the area and what the funds would go towards

 @8VC5N77from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

I think the police should get way more training especially with weapons and what do do before weapons are drawn. racial sensitivity but police don’t need to respond to non violent crimes perhaps have unarmed community based responders

 @8V8L94Jfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

No, increase social programs and police training for high crime rate areas

 @8V85WJ6from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8V7DGQWConservativefrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Funding should be focused on educating police overs and making them better equipped to deal with situations. Police offers should be held accountable; remove the power from the unions to protect them when they have done wrong.

 @8V72J87from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Redirect a portion of the alocated funds to social and community programs including training for police who were « armed » police switching to social and community programs

 @8V5K948from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Allocate more $ to community programs while also maintaining a well trained police presence.

 @8V4F2X6from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Allocate additional funding to social and community programs while retaining current funding for police.

 @8V24KFZfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TX3QFXfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Put less money into police cars and more money and time into police training

 @8TPCHP4from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8TJW9TCfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, after auditing excess funding should be redirected to community programs.

 @8TH624Qfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

it depends if it is a high crime rate neighborhood then there should be more funding but if it is a community with less crime then I think there should be an unarmed community base to respond to no violent crimes.

 @8TB2BQQfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, funding should be partially redirected to social and community based programs, but also increase training for police departments to better handle violent and non-violent situations

 @8SF7HN3from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

No, the police needs to be reformed and expanded with focuses on social services and community programs.

 @8RRBXF8from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Police as first responders are necessary. Weaponry carried should be greatly reduced, and for non-violent calls there should be nothing lethal taken. Peace officers are a great option for non-violent calls.

 @8QRK49FLiberalfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

I think the police sytem needs to be re-funded into a better physically and psychologically trained. With good and respectful values.

 @8Q45PZQfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8PYHWDBLiberalfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

I think we need both increase training for higher crime rate communities as well as including community based responder that work hand in hand with police.

 @8PRN58Wfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Funding for police departments should not be redirected. If and when police departments become an issue, the police systems and training should be modified to better serve the community.

 @8PL7XKXLiberalfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, they're should be more funding for social and community based programs but the police should still get funding.

 @8PBTJHXNew Democraticfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, create better training for police and stricter justice system against police

 @8LYD5VGfrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

Funding should be increased for social and community based programs. Police budgets are stretched as it is. Re-evaluate this in a few years

 @9CNHY4Ffrom Quebec  answered…2yrs2Y

I think funding to both the local police and social and community based programs are as equally important

 @9BQ2N2Wfrom Quebec  answered…2yrs2Y

Maintain enforcement budgets but reinvest community liaison budgets and services to health care and social services

 @8Z7T9MXLiberalfrom Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8XMNZGVfrom Quebec  answered…3yrs3Y

No, I think the funding should be more balanced between the two however there should be more police training for higher crime rate situations.

 @8W6HLC5from Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but provide the police with better training and increase funding for unarmed community based responders for non-violent calls.
