In September 2019 the government introduced a plan where prospective home buyers can finance 5-10% of their mortgage via a shared equity program administered by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Households who make $120K or less and put down 5% will qualify for the program which will cost an estimated $1.25 billion.

The number should be higher to keep up with inflation. I do agree with the subsidizing first-time home buyers,
@9RQNPMR9mos9MO
No because it will not help control inflation of property prices. Increasing supply will reduce rentshouse prices back to affordable

No, but make mortgage payments (for everyone, regardless of income) tax deductible to encourage home ownership. It is proven that long term renters are more prone to need welfare than home owners, therefore home ownership should be encouraged.
In my opinion, government subsidies for home buyers making less than $120K per year could be a great way to make homeownership more attainable for individuals with lower incomes. It could provide much-needed support and help bridge the affordability gap.
@9DS8KXK2yrs2Y
No, but the government should focus strongly on making housing more affordable.

Depending on how many children the buyer has to support, or if they're living with multiple family members and have more people to support then I think that they should be supported but if they are either single or in a small family then no.
@96KLSBW3yrs3Y
Yes if it is a shared income from a family or under 100k
@964L9G93yrs3Y
Yes, but lower the cap to $70k
@8TXCH98Conservative4yrs4Y
Government should be fair and tax all the same.
@8SZCFGP4yrs4Y

@8SHN3484yrs4Y
It depends on the amount earned and amount of people depending on the home buyer
@8SB6XLN4yrs4Y
@8RBHMB44yrs4Y

@8PPWC7N4yrs4Y

@9B7SW332yrs2Y
Only in certain circumstances
@99HZCMTNew Democratic2yrs2Y
yes if neccessary but they should lower the prices of homes if possible
@99FKQTMConservative2yrs2Y
The government should subsidize home buyers who make less than $75k per year
@998P4RV2yrs2Y
The government should subsidize but for lower salaries
@96ZH3SQ2yrs2Y
No, but the government should limit the number of homes that can be owned a single person or entity.
@8WF3Q3F4yrs4Y
I think there should be living spaces for everyone no matter what their income is. There should be freedom to have 4 walls and roof over everyone’s head.
@8YYJJ8C3yrs3Y
I think it all depends on their history and their cirumstances its not enough to buy a house and keep up with monthly bills.
@8S6N29L4yrs4Y
yes but only for people who make less than $75K
@B2FXBYQ3mos3MO
If they have enough money to live, like to buy food and water, a safe place to stay, the esenchals you need to live, if they can afford that then I don't think so. But if they cant even afford food and water, or a basic place to stay then I think they should be paid some money to afford what they need.
@B4RFTCN21hrs21H
The government should limit the number of houses a single entity, but should not be on the hook for subsidies
