In September 2019 the government introduced a plan where prospective home buyers can finance 5-10% of their mortgage via a shared equity program administered by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Households who make $120K or less and put down 5% will qualify for the program which will cost an estimated $1.25 billion.

No, but build at public expense many starter homes of various kinds of sufficient quality to allow low income owners to buy and build equity. Also, support co-ops
It’s more complex and nuanced than that; better to allow mortgages to lower down payments to first/starter homes to 3 percent, with good rental history

Yes, but lower the cap to $70k

No but they should pay for one house
The amount should depend on where you live

No, but government should work with industry to spur innovation in affordable housing.

I think the government should subsidize those who make much less than that. There should be a percentage calculation dependent on the income of the individual and how many people they support in their household.

yes if neccessary but they should lower the prices of homes if possible
@96ZH3SQ2yrs2Y
No, but the government should limit the number of homes that can be owned a single person or entity.

I think there should be living spaces for everyone no matter what their income is. There should be freedom to have 4 walls and roof over everyone’s head.
