My counter-argument to the no position emphasizes the importance of making prescription drugs more affordable and accessible to all individuals, especially those with chronic conditions or life-threatening illnesses. High drug prices can be a barrier to access, causing individuals to forgo necessary medications due to cost. This can lead to worsened health outcomes and increased healthcare costs in the long run.

they are needed for some people, they don't have a choice. why should we make them pay for something out of their control

 @9FM7CNDfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

People need medication to live, be healthy and contribute to society. People who are physically and mentally ill with no access to affordable treatment are left with the ability to do nothing at all.

Drugs are very expensive and many people need them. It is unreal to expect people to afford all their prescriptions.

I think that prescription drugs are important for people who cannot live well without them like my brother

Do you personally know seniors or people who can't afford prescription drugs required for survival or mental health? Have you watched them struggle to afford their prescriptions? Until we have better finance education so that people can better prep I think they should be covered.

Prescription drugs are a necessity for full medical treatment. It should be the government's responsibility to absorb the risk of taking care of its citizens' health. That 'risk' should not be individualized and privatized; that creates misery and suffering.
Furthermore, having completely free and accessible prescription drugs makes certain people more likely to seek treatment for a condition they have (which is socially beneficial) because it reduces stigma and shame which is likely to be amplified when having that extra interaction with a private insurer or financial exchange.

everyone should be able to have the ability to have free medicine or to prescriptions because they may need it for a certain issue such as a young kid or elderly that isn't doing to well.

some prescription drugs such as insulin for t1d's is not optional, it inst even about quality of life at this point there is no life without it. It should be completely covered by government provided taxpayer money.

 @9FCN65Tfrom Manitoba  disagreed…2yrs2Y

If we do not have prescriptions drugs available for all people in Canada the crime rate would increase,the economy will decrease

 @9FPRPK2from Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

If a drug is prescribed by a doctor funded by public healthcare, that prescription should also be covered.

I think it depends on the type of perception. If you have to take the medication to live then the government should at least pay for a portion of it.

 @9G98RNJfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

We have the wealth and ability in Canada to feed, house and provide medicine to all Canadians, but do not due to capitalism. A more socialistic approach will provide a equal and equitable distribution of resources including medicine. Access to government paid medicine should be a right in Canada.
