Everyone should be able to carry a gun for personal protection (provided they can pass the RPAL course)

HELL NO you’ll just have more accidents. Hire professionals and again, school bu school case by case. But NEVER the teachers carrying, no way.

Yes. Everyone should be allowed to carry assuming they've met all regulatory, safety training, and shooting standards. They also need to requalify their holster draw and shooting performance every year in order to maintain the discipline required for daily carry.

NO, by providing firearms to teachers (aka civilians not trained to respond tactically to a threat situation) you create a potential for more confusion and accidental casualties unrelated to the actual threat in the event of an attack (especially pertaining to a mass shooting event when it has been seen repeatedly that the whole "good guy with a gun" argument falls flat when said person can be mistaken for the shooter and inadvertently be seriously injured or killed by law enforcement during the chaos). Instead we should focus on stricter gun laws that remove firearms from civilian usage and provide more mental health care for the public. There are far too many risks and liabilities that outweigh the supposed "advantages" for a teacher to carry a firearm.

No. Teachers should not be allowed to carry guns at school. It would lead to accidental shootings schools need trained security guards and students need quality access to mental health care to help prevent school shootings.

It depends on who the teacher is. What is there background. If they have a bad background absolutely not. But if there a good teacher with a good background maybe. Because if a teacher can not control there anger or frustration with a student who knows what could happen.

No, as teachers are meant to teach and guns aren't going to help with that. If armed protection is required, then hire professional security guards

 @8VK25Q9from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Train the principal and any teacher who wants to and keep it in a locked in the main office.

I would support this provided there was mandatory theory and practical education on handling weapons.

Some schools will only be able to hire trained professionals if the government provides proper funding. Teachers should have some sort or defense mechanism, but does it need to be a gun? Higher security would be more beneficial if teachers are uncomfortable and if the government is willing to fund it because some schools can't afford it. This issue should be less of a public issue and more discussed within the education community. A parent shouldn't make a teacher have a gun if they are uncomfortable with it.

With the new gun ban, teachers only have to fear the real criminals walking around with illegal weapons. Now don't you liberal snowflakes feel safer!

 @8PGTR9Rfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, as long as are trained to shot a gun. Schools should also hire professionally trained guards that are armed.

 @8PFW692Rhinocerosfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, if teachers have sufficient training to safely secure and use a gun, this could be wise, especially in high-risk areas. There must be a standard minimum training established in order for this to happen, though. I, for example, should not carry a gun.

 @8NWMG6Nfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

If the teacher wants to and has the proper training I would support them carrying guns.

 @8K222LSfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

no that is a job for a guard and shootings are not very common at the moment unless the teacher is trained well in use for a firearm they should not be allowed to carry at school

teachers are leaggly allowed to shoot students if they are being respectful

 @8HQB6PSfrom Alberta  answered…5yrs5Y

I think that teachers should be able to but they will have to know how to use that gun or have some restrictions on the gun.

 @8CV2T7Gfrom Alberta  answered…5yrs5Y

Give teachers the option to receive very strict and intensive training but if they fail or refuse supply them with a body guard.

 @9CM6JT8from Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

I think if the teacher is capable of protecting themselves without the use of the guns then yes. But one kick to the sack or a bonk on the head then the teacher goes down. Now the criminal has access to a weapon that he/she did not bring into the school

No, hire professionally trained security guards with something less lethal such as tasers
