The indigenous people get a lot of funding from the government as is. This includes generations to follow. As an example, my indigenous cousin who is the last of the bloodline, and is on the autism spectrum, has received free services to Aid with speech therapy and occupational therapy. This same opportunity is not offered to another family with the same diagnosis.

The government's quarrel with the natives would be reconciled by allowing them to integrate into average Canadian society.
Many natives are severely traumatized from residential schools and have resorted to drugs to forget about it and they need someone to go to to get help.

Look at the reservations — it often seems like they haven’t received the funds allocated to them. I fully support the idea of them having control over their land, but it's important that government funds are used effectively for this purpose if there is to be a discussion about additional funding.
@B45J9SG1mo1MO
To be a by stander in this situation is to participate in the continued oppression of Aboriginal people.
@B44Y3CY1mo1MO
Canada is a stolen land: that was raped and pillaged. The first peoples here deserve to be protected and respected going forward providing funding isn’t a bad way to start. Many of their people still don’t have access to water or food security.

Current situtation creates finacial slavery for the rest of canda to endlesley pay for crimes of many generations before them. it has to end at some day
@B2GYSGX3mos3MO
Our current citizens and government had nothing to do with any crimes/negative behaviours towards the Native community. There is no reason to use taxpayer dollars and/or increase our national debt to provide funding for people.
@9YM4YHWConservative6mos6MO
We take care of everyone but ourselves, but we all pay taxes for it, even more so the harder working indivuals.

Natives have been robbed for thousands of years. They were here first and I believe they should get their lands back and be compensated more than enough for everything the Canadian government has done to them. There should be support groups and lots of programs for this as well. There should be awareness among the community outside of the Native community so that Canadians can understand why this is important.
Aboriginal citizens of Canada should receive more funding. This is because we deserve to be treated better by the government, and the country as a whole. Aboriginal peoples have been oppressed for a very long time. The government funding for Indigenous people in Canada has been extremely unreliable. The government has made many promises, yet most reservations still don't even have clean water. This is a problem that should be fixed as soon as possible. We deserve better. We have been imprisoned in residential schools, and are currently dealing with the unmarked graves, and the missing and murdered indigenous women and girls.
@9M2CKWS12mos12MO
native funding helps with social and economic development for underdeveloped native people on reserves or in canada
@9LY7FFG12mos12MO
Aboriginals should receive more government funds as a part of the truth and reconciliation. Native peoples in Canada have historically not been treated very well and economic aid is the minimum amount of compensation that we should give to these people who have been oppressed in the past by the church and the Canadian government.
they have been mistreated over the years, so I think they deserve more funding than the average person.
@9LW5YMC12mos12MO
The native people's of Canada have been on this territory for far longer and our ancestors took the land form them by force which isn't right and they still to date don't have clean water.
The indigenous peoples were the ones which can to this country first. They made Canada the land that it is. As they were wiped away by the racism of our country in the past, we should pay them back using funding from our government.

Why should we be giving other people money for the color of there skin if we want equality thats far from it.
@9LR75H21yr1Y
Take a look at Prince Albert and look at how many indecencies people are in jail, there is a reason why these stereotypes exist because they do indeed hold some truth in them, go to other cities with many indigenous people would you feel safe seeing them on the streets sleeping and doing drugs?
@9LPQL8D1yr1Y
Canada has a legal obligation enshrined in its constitution to support and foster the well-being of Indigenous communities - this is a fact of law, not a matter of political debate. Further, as Canada, through direct discrimination and paternal control over Indigenous communities, Canada is responsible for much of the hardship Indigenous peoples face and therefore, Canada has a moral obligation in addition to a legal one to ensure Indigenous communities are given tools for self-government and to thrive.

@9JTJ9KL1yr1Y
as mentioned, there are many cases where people should be honoured there reputations but that would come out of tax money, already upset about how much taxes cost? imagine if it was all fair.
@9H3H55P1yr1Y
The problems are past oriented, and we live in a forward thinking world, include them into Society, but don’t reward them for their ancestors oppression.
@9H2QR8S1yr1Y
Most natives the were in reservation schools are in they're late 30s to 80s so funding should be cut for "aboriginals under 35
@9GYY53X1yr1Y
Their land was robbed from them by ungrateful people so they deserve to at least be funded by them since they want to take over.
@9GTQ2291yr1Y
Wasting wildlife and neglecting the environment with littering. They have different laws, and from what I have heard, they do a lot of drugs too
The government stole their land, imprisoned them and attempted genocide. Reparations and justice must be served.

Indigenous people are the people of this land, the land everyone is living on right now was first the land of Indigenous people. Indigenous people went from having all of this, everything they needed, to now being pushing into small reservers where they can't even get clean water to drink from, the ability to vote is much harder.
@9FKGRCH2yrs2Y
My best counter to the No position on Native funding is that since the First Nations people live in Canada.

The past will never be considered reconciled they will continue to move the goal posts as time goes on regardless of how much they receive, if we do not consider everyone as equals and continue to put people into boxes that receive something that others do not we will never achieve that peace in society. All for one and one for all we need to achieve harmony. This will never be done while we continue to put people into boxes.
