Should Canada raise taxes on the rich?
Australia currently has a progressive tax system whereby high income earners pay a higher percentage of tax than low income tax. A more progressive income tax system has been proposed as a tool towards reducing wealth inequality.

Yes the government should but only for the highest income brackets, for instance income of more than 150k per year
the rich should be treeded like evrey other person that is not as rich as them evryone should be treaed the same in my eyes
Depends on the perception of the people. If middle income families are forced to go to a single vehicle while multi-Tesla homes are on the rise, the problem could be rooted in corporations willingness to spend budgets on high end items driving up prices out of the reach of the working class. Shareholders that have a large stake in a company tend to also behave like they are rich owners. While they squeeze every dollar out of a corporation, we are subsidizing wages. Taxing the corporations more is a disincentive to invest in Canada, and jobs move to where they are cheapest rather than most eff… Read more
The rich should be forced to pay their taxes IN GENERAL. There are too many policies that benefit wealthier folk that the middle class and poor individuals with never have access to.
depends if they are contributing to society
More for the rich, less for the poor. Rich people don’t need that much money, while the poor do, the rich can help the poor with their tax money
Decrease tax loopholes for major corporations and extremely wealthy individuals.
yes, however don't make immediate plans relying on taxing the rich as they may leave the country interfering with plans they made relying off tax money from the rich
Have the same tax rates for everyone and erase existing tax loopholes from the rich.
No because it’s not fair and it’s not equal
Canada should tax the super-rich
Yes, but only the etremely rich
Yes, so long as a clear definition of rich is created, and all potential loopholes are closed
Yes, so long as the definition for "rich" individuals is clearly defined, and all potential loopholes are removed.
Reform tax code to tax the rich more efficiently
Only for the super rich - billionaires
They should add a new system that taxes corporations CEOs differently then someone working at Tim’s. It needs to be completely re-designed
Yes, but only the ridiculously rich people ; like big corporations owners. Or an alternative could be just paying their workers more
Yes, but not by a outrageous amount
Yes, but only the very rich. Over $250,000 per year and close all tax loopholes for the rich and for corporations.
Raise taxes on people making over 300k annually, and increase taxes on corporations.
Yes and lower taxes for citizens who make less than $75,000.00 per year.
Keep taxes the same but tax the top 2% of income earners more
Raise income tax for large corporations
Yes and eliminate all the tax breaks that get around paying tax
Raise taxes on the rich as well as close all the legal loopholes that allow corporations to pay almost no tax.
Keep current tax rates, but remove tax loopholes for large corporations
Yes, but we should slowly introduce it and make sure we don't make the tax too high or too low
Justice ,The same taxes for rich and poor 🤷🏻♀️
Depending on the earnings divided by the earning rate.
high taxes on richer, middle on the middle class and low for the lower income.
Increase a consumption tax
it depends. i don’t know
No one should have billions of dollars... no one needs over ten billion
People that make over 500,000 a year should be taxed more.
Only on the richest. As in over 1million a year or something like that.
Taxes on the rich are good, however they could tax the top 5% maybe a tad more.
iv heard if you raise taxes on the rich they will leave and take the money. i do believe the rich could pay more but i also vote that if you are given a fine it should be based on how much money you make
Not so easy. We would have to overhaul many parts of the system, and it could affect the economy in lots of ways, so we should be cautious although it does have some truth to it.
yes but reasonably, if you earn more then 100,00k then yes, but if you earn lower then that then no.
I honestly am fine either way but I care about the problem.
Yes, but include additional tax brackets
Tax everyone evenly offer deductions for students and new workers who are becoming independents
Yes, but also lower takes on the poor
Yes, but have them pay their reasonably fair share within a larger, sustainable tax system rather than have them pay for everything like Bernie Sanders wants them to, because there's a great risk of the system collapsing altogether if you tax the wealthy way too much.
Yes - but I would say to gradually increase taxes on the rich and lower them for the poor. For example, every year, taxes for corporations could increase .2-4% or remove a few tax loopholes.
Yes, but I’m talking about being a extreme millionaire, and ESPECIALLY billionaires. People only having an income difference of 200-300grand should not have their taxes increased, but people like elon musk and jeffrey bezos (total billionares) should absolutely be paying higher taxes.
No, The rich supports potential jobs if we force them to leave with higher taxes. what will happen to the economy?
Yes, but only for those with a personal annual income in excess of two million dollars.
Yes, by introducing more tax brackets
Yes, but they should be taxed based on pay.
Increase taxes on the rich and on derivatives trading, and lower taxes on the poor and middle class. Give tax credits to newlywed couples and increase the first time homebuyers and childcare benefit.
