Proponents argue that this strategy would bolster national security by minimizing the risk of potential terrorists entering the country. Enhanced screening processes, once implemented, would provide a more thorough assessment of applicants, reducing the likelihood of malicious actors gaining entry. Critics argue that such a policy might inadvertently promote discrimination by broadly categorizing individuals based on their nation of origin rather than specific, credible threat intelligence. It may strain diplomatic relations with the affected countries and potentially harm the perception of the nation enacting the ban, being seen as hostile or prejudiced towards certain international communities. Additionally, genuine refugees fleeing terrorism or persecution in their home countries might be unjustly denied safe haven.

I think they should screen anyone they feel is a risk of being involved in terrorism, not just specifically one group of people.
@95HDPYQNew Democratic3yrs3Y
no, but we should be aware of the threat
@8Y7F4SNNew Democratic3yrs3Y
no, because the majorty of muslium immigraints are coming here to seek a better life for there family and we should not be labeling musliums as terrorist and putting them through more extensive testing. if we banned one group we should be banneding all because its not fair because anybody can be a terrorist or criminal.
@8XX4R87New Democratic3yrs3Y
A. this question is self is so stupid yall should shut yourselfs down for it.
@8WPK5B7New Democratic3yrs3Y
No, but we should keep the number of Muslim immigrants low
@8WBL4MLNew Democratic4yrs4Y
No, but improve screening from high risk countries.
@8VX29BDNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Just do more thorough checks from high risk countries
@8VW2FBZNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Question assumes only Muslims are terrorist - what about home grown terrorist
@8VS64J5New Democratic4yrs4Y
No, we should keep the racism aside until terrorist attacks are happening
@8VNNV57New Democratic4yrs4Y
Be allowed in the country. But be screened and not be able to vote. ( but technically everyone should be screened.. anyone can be a terrorist!)
@8VMFPYMNew Democratic4yrs4Y
No but do extensive background checks especially from "high risk"countries
@8VLDWFRNew Democratic4yrs4Y
they should just have a check to ensure safety
@8VKKSCLNew Democratic4yrs4Y
I think that we shouldn’t ban Muslim immigrants entirely. I think we just need a stronger policy to screen out potential terrorists, while still allowing Muslim immigrants and families to enter the country.
@8VHQJDKNew Democratic4yrs4Y
This is racism and absolutely not
@8VHM4PKNew Democratic4yrs4Y
You will never know if someone is a terrorist before they do anything, so this seems incredibly flawed to me.
We should know who is in our country and offer support for transitioning over here. If they are required to work with a program/counselor for the first year in Canada, there is a better chance of getting to know them and knowing what their goals are.
@8V5KFXCNew Democratic4yrs4Y
No but tougher screen process from higher risk countries.
@8V38DM6New Democratic4yrs4Y
Do a background check to make sure
@8T3RW2VNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Not all muslims are terrorists. It’s an extreme racial assumption to make.
@8SC7CH6New Democratic4yrs4Y
why just muslims? any race could potentially be a terrorist.
@8QW4LNPNew Democratic4yrs4Y
If the person has finished a screening if they came from a high risk country. If they have then there is no reason they can’t come in
@8QS2X5MNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Screening should be improved in general not just Muslim’s are terrorists.
@8PVRC6SNew Democratic4yrs4Y
No, but it should be made sure that they don't bring harmful cultural practices with them
@8PN8ZDVNew Democratic4yrs4Y
This question almost sounds kinda discriminatory, people should be screen regardless of race.
@8PLZV5RNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Yes, but not just Muslims
@8M9VG8NNew Democratic4yrs4Y
No matter if your race religion or creed if the government cannot properly vet an individual then they cannot come to Canada
@adfafjNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Case by case basis with background checks
Now I get the safety concern but banning only Muslims from immigration isn't good we should let them into the country but have great security at airports in case anything goes sideways.
@8J5DSV3New Democratic5yrs5Y
no one should be banned but the screening process needs to be improved for anyone who immigrates
@8HBG22FNew Democratic5yrs5Y
Not informed enough to comment
@8CHK3NVNew Democratic5yrs5Y
No, but have increased screening for those in high risk countries.
@95G9GCNNew Democratic3yrs3Y
No, but they should search their belongings, and bodies done by someone of the same gender.
@8VQGW5MNew Democratic4yrs4Y
All immigrants need to be screened equally well no matter what country.
@8TMM8NGNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Strict screening and criminal background checking
@8RX8KJBNew Democratic4yrs4Y
In ways yes but at the same time I see this as discriminating on a race which is not good.
@8K33N95New Democratic4yrs4Y
This should not be only muslims. All immigrants should be properly screened
@9BY747JNew Democratic2yrs2Y
No, accepting them after a strict background check
@9BP4PYBNew Democratic2yrs2Y
Literally anybody can be a terrorist, not just muslim people.
@97JFCVDNew Democratic2yrs2Y
no, that is a terrible way to look at someone because of their religion.
@96ML3STNew Democratic2yrs2Y
No but the government needs to improve its screening process to ensure immigrants from high risk countries understand the difference between our culture and where they come from ie sharia law is not acceptable practice in Canada
@93B79QTNew Democratic3yrs3Y
No opinion due to lack of knowledge
@8ZG86HGNew Democratic3yrs3Y
No, but increase background check for all immigrants
@8S2LJ243yrs3Y
No, banning anyone based on who they are, what they believe in, and what they have done in the past is against the teachings of Jesus Christ
@7PTCG384yrs4Y
No, but immigrants from "high risk" countries should have thorough background checks completed to screen out potential acts of terrorism, regardless of race or religion
@7PTCG384yrs4Y
No, but immigrants from "high risk" countries should have thorough background checks completed before entering our country.
@8LSVCGK4yrs4Y
No, but apply strict background checks on them
