Educational institutions & government should join to evaluate the need for skilled workers, then provide $$$ incentives such as free tuition & small living allowance to Canadians willing to train to fill these gaps. We have too many unskilled, unemployed arts degrees, and educators are still pushing students to a prestigious ARTS program.

The system needs to be regulated so that companies can not abuse the use of these visas and those brought in to do the work.

 @B3G5TN4New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…1mo1MO

Regardless, more steps should be taken against companies exploiting temporary foreign workers. Employers using this type of visa frequently abuse immigrant employees.

 @9VS9N3RLibertarianfrom Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

Companies should be allowed to hire foreign workers, but the government will provide no incentives to do so, and companies must pay all expenses to hire these foreign workers (sponsorship)

 @9LJVNVSfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

They shouldn't bother creating temporary work visas. It's either they are a citizen or not a citizen, because that most workers goals anyways in this program.

 @9FB722Tfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Decrease until the rate of growth in housing and infrastructure can balance with immigration

 @B2TS2VLfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Yes, as long as it doesn't cause significant harm to our infrastructure, housing market, healthcare, etc.

 @B24T739from Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

Increase, but only in fields that are not over-saturated, and pay all workers fair and reasonable wages.

 @9ZYVF3Mfrom Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

Companies are taking advantage of this program to hire immigrants at a lower cost instead of hiring Canadian citizens

 @9W27QN2from Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

the government needs to provide opportunities for these highly educated immigrant to get jobs in their fields because often they end up working for Uber because they cant get a job in their field. another major issue is that they don't have the canadian certifications for their fields of expertise but are quite educated and have the certificates that their country of origin needs.

 @9RDSKS3from Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

Increase but immigrants from poor countries need support in order to gain their equivalencies or else people with degrees end up driving taxis.

 @9RCBSYBfrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

We should look within for people to fill these positions first. Find people with potential and promote training for citizens to fill these roles rather than staying unemployed. Fair wages for fair work. Companies that are willing to train citizens rather than hire immigrants at a low cost could get higher government ratings and media promotion benefits.

 @9G28PF4from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Increase, with a proper background check and screening of their record at their current country as well as paying them what a person who would have that job as a citizen of Canada

 @9FP3QX2from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Increase for now, but visa green cards should not be a requirement for immigration.

 @9F9XLSYConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Increase, as long as their education is verified via stringent professional testing

 @9MLXWMNfrom Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

The definition of high-skilled immigrant workers needs a good overhaul. While we need a lot more doctors, all we are getting are food delivery drivers.

 @9ML8M3Hfrom Ontario  answered…11mos11MO

increase, because canada benefits from the workers, but it should be regulated so that these workers are treated fairly and compensated accordingly

 @9G2PHDKfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Increase but place restrictions on allowing companies to take advantage of this program to decrease wages.

 @8PW9SHKfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Decrease the visas via the creation of programs that make it easier for skilled workers to immigrate to Canada on a permanent basis. This would eliminate the incentive for companies to hire temporary foreign workers as a cost saving measure, and create a new pathway to citizenship for skilled workers.

 @8KLCJ9TNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Keep the current amount the same, but implement policies that prevent companies from taking advantage to decrease wages/exploit workers.

 @95SFXHSfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Priority should be given to young Canadians wanted to step in and have an opportunity VS sourcing it all elsewhere.

 @92RTRZZfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

 @8VXL57Dfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Increase, and the government and a third-party should review each buisness hiring high-skilled immigrants ensuring they are compensated the same as if they were a citizen.

 @8VPMD3QConservativefrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Increase, but only if the immigrants are brought in to the country with eventual citizenship in mind.

 @8VKBKM8from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Increase, but ensure immigrant workers are being treated well by setting up a monitoring agency.

 @8VJDPWFfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Increase if we are in short supply of that skill Decrease if we have a surplus

 @8VBQPPSfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Increase with more incentives where companies are held accountable if they take advantage

 @8VBHPDBfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Increase, and government should impose measures to ensure the workers are treated fairly

 @8V9NNNRNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Increase and implement protection measures so workers are not exploited.

 @8TXCC9Yfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Target high skilled workers but ensure that companies cant take advantage to decrease wages

 @8TX6Z4Nfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Increase but with more governance over the ratio of Canadian citizen workers

 @8TX5JVBfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Regardless, the government should do more to penalize companies that are taking advantage if this program to decrease wages

 @8TWXBFCfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

I am satisfied with the current amount, No welfare or work for Welfare would make adults go to school to improve themselves.

 @8TPZYQ5Greenfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Increase, however Canada should also give an opportunity to low-skilled immigrant workers to assist them in finding a job suitable for them to be able to live here.

 @8TP8W83from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Increase, and prevent companies from giving them lower wages than other people.

 @8TJDQSVfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8S73DY8from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

I would consult economists on this issue, politicians aren't exactly the most competent

 @firozsasifrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8R23V35from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

maintain but increase funding to encourage high skills/demand occupations development at home

 @8QZTFS3from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

We should be gearing more people to the trades to be able to fill these jobs

 @8QMB9VGfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Remain the same, and the government should provide more incentives to prepare our citizens for these jobs

 @8QHTWWRfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

increase, but punish companies for taking advantage of the immigrant workers for cheaper labour

 @8PYSM3HCommunistfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Increase, and ensure these workers have adequate protections in place to prevent them from being exploited and mistreated.

 @8PP5NSFfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8P3F3JTfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Eliminate the Work Visa entirely.

Create a minimum wage tax that only applies to companies that pay any of their employees minimum wage, companies that pay higher are exempt as long as none of their employees, or contractors employees make minimum wage or less .

 @8JN329MPeople’sfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Decrease, importing immigrants to fill roles in canada suppresses wages and increases competition regardless of the job or class of the persons imported

 @Staplefsafrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

If there is someone with a higher skill then bring them in but they should be paid the same amount

 @97QYQ2VCommunistfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

 @99VVCCYConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Have the required amount don't add more and encourage it but don't discourage it. In essences the Government should stay out and not have any involvement.
