In December 2014, the German government announced a new rule which would require German companies to fill 30% of their board seats with women. The 2013 Catalyst Census found that 20.8% of board seats in corporate Canada are held by women. This is less than the UK (22.8%) and Australia (23.6%). In 2014 the Boards of Directors Modernization Act was introduced to the Canadian Senate. It would require the boards of directors of public companies, state-owned enterprises, and certain financial institutions would have to comprise at least 40% women and 40% men. In 2016 the measure had not been acted on. In Norway 35.5% of boards contain women directors which is the highest percentage in the world.

Depends on the board in question. You should not be forced to buy you should be made to consider them appropriately and equally to men if they are qualified l.

I feel that each business should hire the people best suited for the position. To place a woman on the board of directors simply because of her gender and not her merit is silly.
@96LZ6W7New Democratic2yrs2Y
No, it should be based on qualifications, but more should be done to disolve boundries for minorites and impower them in the workplace
@95SJ7543yrs3Y
Yes but the company shouldnt be praised for it
@949CP74New Democratic3yrs3Y
No, but there should be incentives for businesses to diversify boards. Incentivize, not mandate.
@8Z7J8MZNew Democratic3yrs3Y

@8YXWCGWNew Democratic3yrs3Y
the board of directors shouldn't be based on gender, but more so work ethic.
@8VSNK63New Democratic4yrs4Y
no, but the government should do more to require diversity in the workplace
@8VH2MYFNew Democratic4yrs4Y
No, but the government should do more to enable diversity in the workplace by encouraging and helping to develop women in business.
@MiladyBeeNew Democratic4yrs4Y
yes, and the government should give priority to their suppliers that do.
@8V772GPNew Democratic4yrs4Y
No for small businesses, yes for large businesses. It's a ridiculous requirement when the board of directors for a small business may only be two people.
@8V5N92GNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Women should have equal opportunity to get there but the most qualified should get it
@8V3D4RDNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Yes, but supports should be in place to retain those women and properly utilize their expertise. We shouldn't be tokenizing women, or any other marginalized group
@8TVC9W3New Democratic4yrs4Y
No, but the government should do more to address gender disparities in male-dominated industries.
@8TJ5QFPNew Democratic4yrs4Y
Business should be encouraged and not required
@8TFVW57New Democratic4yrs4Y
Yes but through an incentive program, especially for all federally and provincially regulated companies, institutions and organizations, including all organizations that receive government funding or grants.
@8R3PCHPNew Democratic4yrs4Y
I think that workplaces should be more diverse as long as those individuals have the skills for that job
@8QTW592New Democratic4yrs4Y
I think they are supposed to treat everyone equally. We can't make it a requirement to heir women if they aren't qualified it's be the same the other way around however I would question them if they had none on their board
@8JKTRJHNew Democratic4yrs4Y
There needs to be more diversity in the workplace. Whether that be women, trans people, or nonbinary people. There shouldn't be a requirement to fill these token diversity places. Instead, there should be workshops implemented to fisht against bias and discrimination in the workplace.
@8H3GHR8New Democratic5yrs5Y
Businesses can have a woman on the board of direction If they want too.
@8TXN4LS4yrs4Y
No, but give marginalized groups more opportunities to advance in their job
@8STJ2TC4yrs4Y
No, as forced diversity for its own sake does not actually show that a company is progressive.
@8P3ZQ4P4yrs4Y
Not require it but hire more women.
@8M98FV94yrs4Y
No, but reward boards that are diverse.
@8JP8Y7P4yrs4Y
Yes, as long as the person is qualified
@73LQC573yrs3Y
It is up to the business.
@8XBMR4G3yrs3Y
No, but the government should work to fight workplace discrimination in other ways
@8YJ6ZGY3yrs3Y
Yes if they're qualified for the job
@8X8TPKQ3yrs3Y
No, but there must be a diverse selection committee to be sure that the business does not become patriarchal.
@8CFLXGH5yrs5Y
No, but both genders should be given equal opportunity if they qualify for the position
@5643HNN4yrs4Y
Yes, but they should be qualified for the position and not included simply because they're a woman
@8QDSNZY4yrs4Y
No, but women should have an equal chance to men and we must do more to challenge gender discrimination.
