The federal minimum wage is the lowest wage at which employers may pay their employees. The Liberal government eliminated Canada's federal minimum wage in 1996. Each province and territory now sets their own minimum wage which range from $10.50 per hour to 12.50 per hour.

If and when the Fedral Government has some money lying around some place (I doubt it tho) then why not? If they don't got no money around or if they have a little spare money, still try and raise the minimum wage, even if by just a bit.

Neither, efforts need to be made to combat the cost of living, not Band-Aid the problem with minimum wage.

Minimum wage is not meant to support a family but there isn't enough money right now for someone to go to post secondary school to better themselves
@9LR6WFGConservative12mos12MO
Yes but no. Yes because it would help people make more money(I can talk from experience) but no because then everything else gets increased in price
@9DF539N2yrs2Y
Yes, and they should do something about the insane cost of living.
@8Z6P9KQ3yrs3Y
Yes? No? Every town/city/province should do a study to find out how much it cost yearly to survive in that location, and base the minimum wage on the means, medians, and modes per location.
@8YXSH9P3yrs3Y
Make it a living wage initially then adjust for inflation but still maintaining an actual living wage

No, McDonalds workers get free burgers, I say no to higher minimum wage!
@8S3LNCZ4yrs4Y
Yes. But not during a pandemic. Other wages will also have to rise. It should always rise to keep up to the cost of living.
@8L34WXW4yrs4Y
Raising the minimum wage will wipe out lots of small family business. Big companies sure have to pay a living wage.
@9B6LBPK2yrs2Y
no, because there are people out there who actually want to do things in life raising pricings should stop
@9B5XRKX2yrs2Y
It's already fine the way it is.
Yes, make it a living wage and the only wage for politicians
@95ZXJVJ3yrs3Y
No but the government should reduce the amount of time to get a degree and make it more affordable to study or attain a vocational degree/apprenticeship.
@8V6HDV5Conservative4yrs4Y
Federal minimum wage is useless, should be standard across country. And adjusted yearly for inflation.
