The U.S. currently gives $38 billion to Israel every year in foreign aid assistance. Opponents argue that the aid given to Israel is unnecessary since the country provides free healthcare and college tuition to its citizens. Proponents argue that the aid is necessary to promote democracy in the Middle East and maintain a balance of power with other countries in the region.
