In 2010 the Conservative government introduced a crime bill which would kill the so-called faint hope clause that allows some people serving life sentences to apply for parole after 15 years (instead of the usual 25 common for first-degree murder and other life sentence convictions). Opponents of the crime bill argue that extended prison sentences are cruel and will cost the government tens of millions of dollars per year.Proponents argue that 15 years is too short of a prison term for people serving life sentences.

I think I depends how they killed them. Was it in cold blood or where they protecting themselves or family? Or were they killing a predator
@99M37B42yrs2Y
Yes, with the aid of strict psychological evaluations to determine they are no longer a threat, as well as there should be more rehabilitation programs provided
@93RSFHY3yrs3Y
No, and we should provide more rehabilitation programs for prisoners. The Canadian prison system should be reformed to be less punitive and instead focus on restorative solutions to reduce recidivism rates and help reintegrate prisoners back into society.
Yes if they continue to show change and great behavior

It's up to the government's decision If they think that prisoners eligible for a parole hearing.
@8P9CY8Q4yrs4Y
There was a time before 1976 when prisoners serving life sentences became parole eligible after ten years (or less, through good behaviour). I believe that as long as a prisoner is not dangerous, they should be released after serving their minimum sentence.

i think if new evidence is presented to possibly not make them guilty of the crime in the case of a false accusation anytime after 15 years the could have a parol hearing
@8D2RD775yrs5Y
Only if after 15 years the prisoner takes a test to denote mental stability, sane and sound mind, and his level of connections and how he articulates to people around him.
