Same spending but only to countries with no human rights violations. If we have to shuffle, then do that
@B45T7J22wks2W
It highly depends on the situation and purpose. It should be decided by people or the members of parliament
@B36LMM71mo1MO
Add foreign aid to individual people instead of the country and to poor countries example(African countries)
@B34Y5PH2mos2MO
Decrease spending since the current spending on what we mask as “foreign aid” is only to secure economic or optical solidarity for neo imperialist forces in our country rather then a genuine willingness to help a needing nation.
@B34VPRS2mos2MO
I am satisfied with the current amount but we should be making sure the funds are not going to government's or organization's with human rights violations
@B2QB55G2mos2MO
Stop funding violence/wars. Only provide aide for natural disasters, major accidents effecting the public (ie: walkerton), etc
@B2PMG8R2mos2MO
We need to prioritize where foreign aid is being sent and ensuring the livelihoods of people globally who face oppression and violence. In most areas, this would mean a decrease, but in others it would be an increase
@B2L42TM2mos2MO
Decrease or suspended foreign aid until we can ensure that every Canadian and First Nations live have an adequate living standard
@B2GVVDG3mos3MO
They should commit to spending more money on circumstances in our own backyard. First Nations, homelessness, mental health etc issues before spending more money on other countries. Fix our countries issues. Continue to give foreign aid but also help our country. Find a balance.
@9ZQRBHRConservative4mos4MO
Decrease until we reduce our national budget deficit, and Deng and to countries that harbor or promote terrorism.
@9T64K8RConservative7mos7MO
Decrease, focus on reducing our national budget deficit, still give some humanitarian aid to warring countries and to help poorer nations.
@9T3VJQSNew Democratic7mos7MO
Canadian aid spending should prioritize security with regard to health and safety and fostering our global economy and be regulated so that it is not corporations who profit the most off of it. We should also not fund countries whose governments are committing human rights violations or that are destabilizing or exploiting other poorer countries.
@9DDB3M22yrs2Y
I fully support giving humanitarian aid to other countries. But I think the current government or Canada sometimes or regulary forget about its own native citizens (First Nations specifically)
I say this because I myself am a indigenous resident of Canada (First Nation/Native/Canadian/Native American) and seems like the current and past goverment parties never address the issues surrounding First Nation communities.
I dont have clean water, and Trudeau said he would fix the problem back in 2015 and its 2023 and I still got to filter and boil my water before use.
Decrease, and restrict what the government can spend it on
@8G296CF5yrs5Y
Decrease by using some of this money on Canadians in need of aid first.
@8F2KYGZ5yrs5Y
Decrease by using some of this spending on Canadians in need of aid.
@B395RFR1mo1MO
Cut off countries that abuse it abnd/or human rights, full stop. Also deny it to wealthy countries. And finally, attach strings; usage time limits and strict purposing.l, or it gets rescinded.
@B34G8Z62mos2MO
Increase but only after we spend more to support citizens struggling with homelessness and the poor conditions of the natives
@B32CB8K2mos2MO
Only with countries that are willing to spend on foreign nations as well for example NATO spending foreign aid with each other and other countries. If poorer countries when in a better situation don't spend as well we will decrease spending.
@9ZZNB4NConservative4mos4MO
Decrease or maintain where we are at, but also Canada should focus on helping both indigenous peoples living in bad conditions (i.e. give them clean drinking water), and help out Canadian citizens currently living on the streets.
@9ZR6HQ94mos4MO
We should increase the foreign aid spending on countries that do not have any human rights but also most specifically what Canada should do is focus on the indigenous people who are still living in bad conditions.
@9ZQV5PZ4mos4MO
Increase, but Canada should be more careful with how it coordinates that spending so as to achieve better outcomes
@9WSS4QB5mos5MO
Decrease
Decrease considerably our foreign aid spending. You have 39+ million Canadians who depend on you to ensure their lives are worth living and contributing to Canada in a meaningful way.
Similar to the instructions one would receive while flying in a plane with family members. Make sure you put the oxygen mask on yourself first, before helping anyone else, even children. Because if you pass out before you finish helping them, you are both dead. I recognize my privilege in being born in a country free from war, but on average how much of that foreign aid actually reaches the people it is intended to help?
We have an incredible chunk of our population who cannot afford to buy a modest home. Help Canadians get back on their feet first. Then let them decide how they want to help people in need.
@9RCGFXG9mos9MO
Increase, but only for countries not currently commiting human rights violations, war crimes, or violating Geneva conventions.
@9QZCYDN9mos9MO
Decrease giving money to countries that harbor or promote terrorism, or ones that have lots of human rights violations that cannot be trusted. Give that money to ones that don't fit that criteria. Probably keep the overall amount of aid the same.
@9MW8Y2BConservative10mos10MO
satisfied with the current amount but it should be stopped if the country violates human rights audaciously.
@9LL92B412mos12MO
it depends on how much their receiving because they could also give to the homeless or people that need it
@9KSKML31yr1Y
Maintain foreign aid to countries that have been impacted by Canada's Colonial Legacy but allow locals to determine allocation and encourage community participation
@9K6M4541yr1Y
there is a good portion of this money being sent to somewhere else for goods, but why need it for stuff that doesn't effect us? completely dumb.
@9K6HR9K1yr1Y
In a land of this, we wouldn't do anything as much as else to the world, besides of what is of important need to the local economy.
@9JWTCPT1yr1Y
Not another nickle to any ally without independant evaluation regarding ANY human right violations committed & EVERY instance of civilian casualties. Suspended aid can be released if all has be done in good faith and if approved exoect uncompromising compliance accountability
@9JWMJCZ 1yr1Y
Well mostly we will aid only the country which is getting attacked first. We will not help the country which attacked first, we will help out when there's a natural disaster.
I am satisfied with the currrent amount but decrease aid to countries that harbor or promote terrorism
@9FJS26V2yrs2Y
Decrease, we have many issues in Canada that aren't yet addressed
@9F7JQGC2yrs2Y
The government should support those countries by empowering them to invest within the economies and growth of relevant sectors other than just offering aid
@9F2RVFC2yrs2Y
Focus on Canada then focus on other countries.
@9F2HR8Q2yrs2Y
Decrease, we should use that money to help our own economy
@9DYV2PR2yrs2Y
Increase but only to the countries that are really in need.
@B28ZW2K3mos3MO
Increase, for the countries that are undergoing genocide like Palestine and need humanitarian aid. And deny aid to countries that harbour or promote terrorism like Israel.
@9VKQQKV6mos6MO
Increase but to the countries that need and not to countries that are engaging in on going wars, and to those who are in actual need of aid.
@9SMRCK8Independent7mos7MO
Only for natural disasters, countries that can't afford to help them selves and not countries committing atrocities such as genocide.
@8RJ5L744yrs4Y
Eliminate foreign aid spending and only fund national programming.
@8RH7JFT4yrs4Y
We should focus on improving Canada before we attempt to help other countries. How can we help others if we can’t even help ourselves?
@8R26JKW4yrs4Y
Regardless, we should eliminate foreign aid spending
@8CKDFKQ5yrs5Y
Decrease Canada is in billions of dollars of debt.
@9CMHBM82yrs2Y
fix Canada before you start messing with other countries
@9BWGCTW2yrs2Y
owner for spending the money on right reasons like humanitarian programs overthrowing tyrants and other things such as that
@9BVGQPZ2yrs2Y
Help Canada first. Then the government should worry about other countries.
@9BRDHPC2yrs2Y
They should increase it since there's a lot of homeless people/animals, but also a lot of families with lots of kids have to work extra hard to provide for their children.
@9BL4FYN2yrs2Y
The government should ensure that the needs of its citizens are met prior to proving aid and support to other countries
@9B24C8Y2yrs2Y
The decision will come down to the country's budget priorities and whether the public is willing to make the necessary financial commitments.
@99XRF242yrs2Y
if put into a situation where a Canadian is needing aid, help them as priority than the foreign
@989JF9B2yrs2Y
Depend on the country's intention
@96JJRBT2yrs2Y
Increase, and we should construct more schools, methods of transportation, hospitals, etc.
@96HJ2SS2yrs2Y
We need to be able to support our own country first before helping others
@96D85B22yrs2Y
i think canada should spend more on canaidians than on other countrys
@95ZMVJTNew Democratic3yrs3Y
Decrease until we fix our own problems with lack of funding for vulnerable Canadians: indigenous, disabled and poorer communities need that funding here first
@95XHH8K3yrs3Y
Remove aid spending entirely
@95LMRH23yrs3Y
yes for those people that are in danger of being killed in their country / they have no human rights.
@959T7493yrs3Y
I did not know that this existed until right now so I dont realy have an opinion.
@9566Y5P3yrs3Y
foreign aid should help countries build up their own social servecis and buisness' until they are self sufficient
@955C6273yrs3Y
Increase, but go further and directly construct buildings for them. China's model would be a good starting point that will help these nations in the long run.
@94K3KGW3yrs3Y
Change how we prioritize spending to be more affective, and hold those who receive it accountable.
@94HMR4L3yrs3Y
worry about our citizens and country first then help others
@94C5KCN3yrs3Y
I believe it should depend on the issues within that country we would be aiding. We should potentially increase spending to countries that are considered hostile environments for families/human rights
@9449RWJ3yrs3Y
It should be evaluated on an individual basis
@93WL6VF3yrs3Y
Yes, but only when we can know for sure that funding will go to the resources that are vital to the countries that are being aided.
@93S66JL3yrs3Y
Increase, but only by increasing taxes on the more wealthy
@93RV8MN3yrs3Y
decrease by $100 million which can be used to help people in our country and fix broken things
@93RS5G93yrs3Y
Only for countries in a crisis of some sort
@93RNJX33yrs3Y
Increase and also advertise our country so that we get more educated immigrants
@93Q8JDG3yrs3Y
Decrease, Spend the right amount on foreign aids for the most important stances only.
@93G7VQ63yrs3Y
decrease until we solve problems with water purification systems AND proper housing for struggling families in first nation communities
@93CYDY7New Democratic3yrs3Y
Decrease, but direct this money towards Indigenous communities.
@93CDZZ83yrs3Y
I would have to know where and why is Canada aiding.
Increase, but only for countries that need help
@93B2LM93yrs3Y
due to the human rights in Canada currently, i think we should decrease the foreign aid spending but only for countries that no human rights violations
@938N3XJNew Democratic3yrs3Y
Don’t have enough knowledge on the matter to appropriately answer
@937ZZFJNew Democratic3yrs3Y
Canada needs to focus on its own impoverished people and work on getting suitable living conditions to indigenous communities. But should still contribute toward foreign aid in some respect
@937ZYZYNew Democratic3yrs3Y
Spend only or primarily on countries with no human rights violations
@937V9PJConservative3yrs3Y
Stop foreign aid spending and lower down income tax for middle class families.
@937NJWW3yrs3Y
Work on big issues in our country but of course help others when needed
@92XJ4LH3yrs3Y
only if we get something benficial in return
@92S6KXH3yrs3Y
Halt purely monetary foreign aid in favour of sending Canadians with skills to educate and train people to solve their own problems.
@92PB9CM3yrs3Y
Increase, but only for other countries who need it. However, I do believe that we should focus on our own people first and prioritize the needs of Canadian society.
@92M4953Conservative3yrs3Y
(Decreasing) i think its a combination of drastically reducing our national budget deficit and denying aid to countries that harbor or promote terrorism
@92FG9XQ3yrs3Y
Only give aid to civilians in countries where corruption and human right violations are rampant and decrease foreign aid slightly
@92D9RW93yrs3Y
Increase, but only for the countries that desperately need it. (ex: middle eastern countries)
@92CZKZ23yrs3Y
Keep the same but stop all spending on nations with human rights violations or those who Harbour terrorists
@926G75T3yrs3Y
Readvise the budget and aid Canadians first and use remainder to aid foreign countries
@925CW273yrs3Y
Increase, however stop the unfair treatment between the Isreal vs Palestine War. Give aid to both or none.
@8ZW42TKConservative3yrs3Y
only to countries that have a low enough GNP
@8ZSJL5B3yrs3Y
Eliminate foreign aid spending, only fund national and local programmes instead.
@8ZJP4BH3yrs3Y
yes but not make canadians pay more for it
@8Z3WNDV3yrs3Y
They should cease foreign aid and focus on their own problems, And only after they should reconsider.
