Queer, and gay/lesbian people in particular, should be allowed to get married because a legal union between two people causes Zero harm to anyone and is exactly the same as a man and a woman getting married.

 @9FG2WTDfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

That perspective is clearly outdated as people of the same sex can love each other just as much as people of different sexes.

 @9F9TS6CNew Democraticfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

you should be able to live your life the way you want and marry who you love as long as it isn't harming someone. Gay marriage does not harm anyone.

 @9GB3L4Kfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Everyone deserves to be happy if somone is happy with that they love who is anyone to judge. It is love and that is no ones buissness but my own.

 @B3N7L5Qfrom Ontario  agreed…4wks4W

People of the same gender can't have biological children together, and the Bible mentioned Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve or similar.

 @B3BCL8Kfrom Ontario  disagreed…1mo1MO

You can be with a man and woman, but why are we taking away the rights of others to choose? It doesn’t take away anything from straight marriage to allow gay marriage. It doesn’t affect me at all if other people are married to men or women, either way I have the choice to marry who I want and so should they.

 @B2W67C4New Democraticfrom Ontario  disagreed…2mos2MO

I am a gay man. I was born a gay man. The love I feel for men is no different than the love I would feel for women if I was heterosexual, and I should not be punished for it. It should be illegal to discriminate on the basis on immutable and inflexible characteristics, and that includes revoking marriage equality.

 @B2S8BW9from Ontario  disagreed…2mos2MO

Queer people will always exist whether you like it or not, they should have as much of a right as cis people to marry who they love

 @B29K7YN from Ontario  disagreed…3mos3MO

I mean gay marriage doesn't really affect me. I mean it could be allowed like I don't see much wrong with it but marriage is defined as something between a man and a woman so me and I guess we can keep gay marriage as what it is right now.

 @9ZXKVZXfrom Ontario  disagreed…4mos4MO

One of the strongest counterarguments to the position that marriage should be defined solely as between a man and a woman is rooted in the principles of equality and individual rights, as enshrined in many democratic societies.

 @9KW4MGFfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

It has to be ones own decision about the definition. Marriage is the relationship between two partner

 @9JYWQ8Kfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

It really doesn't matter if the people getting married aren't affecting you, if they are that's when you can have an opinion

 @9JXF34Zfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

Not every marriage is between a man and woman, Canada allows same-sex marriages for a reason, therefore we need to destigmatize marriage as only something between a man and woman.

 @9GRC5BMPeople’sfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

love is love, i don't understand why people are so interested in others lives to even care about who they are happy with.

 @9GQ9V7Tfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

First of all religion did not invent marriage there are records on unions between two men that go back years. The only reason why the bible says "man shall not lie with man as he shall a women" is because it was changd due to political agenda. The real texted is "man shall not lie with boy" so no to pedophillia. Being gay isn't a sin.

 @B38JGVDfrom Ontario  disagreed…1mo1MO

Marriage has always been based on love. Especially when married in a church. A marriage is a union between two people who both want to get married. So, marriage doesn't refer to just something between men and women. If two people of the same sex love each other and want to spend the rest of their lives together, then why stop them from officiating it? Any two people deserve the right to love who they want, and marry who they want. Not to mention that marriage is a celebration of love, it is not something that has strict rules and traditions. So many people marry in different ways than…  Read more

Marriage is a contract between 2 people. What difference does it make about the gender of those 2 people? Love exists in many forms and many male-female marriages aren't very healthy forms of that.

 @9TX8BQ3from Ontario  disagreed…6mos6MO

Why should marriage only be accessible for straight couples, isn't marriage a legal form to show how you express your love for your significant other regardless of gender.

 @9RH3YBKNew Democraticfrom Ontario  disagreed…8mos8MO

All people in the eyes of god are equal, all people in the eyes of the state are equal, all people should have an equal right to marry regardless of whom to, within reason.

 @9QTQ7C9from Ontario  disagreed…9mos9MO

why do you care if 2 people who love each other want to get married it's better than child marriages

 @9QSZ75Mfrom Ontario  disagreed…9mos9MO

you should be able to marry the Pearson you love no matter there gender and feel safe while doing it.

 @9LJ64PDfrom Ontario  disagreed…12mos12MO

No, no one has the right to tell someone else who they cannot marry and more importantly it isn't there business to interfere with someone else's relationship.

 @9LH6Y49Bloc Québécoisfrom Ontario  disagreed…12mos12MO

I think that people should be able to choose their partners, and have the right to make a life with that person having marriage as an optional choice just as couples of opposite sex do

 @9KW4Y7Nfrom Ontario  disagreed…1yr1Y

In response to the assertion that marriage should be exclusively defined as between a man and a woman, here are some counterarguments relevant to Canada:

Legal Equality: Denying same-sex couples the right to marry is discriminatory and creates a second class of citizens. Legalizing gay marriage ensures equal access to benefits and protections enjoyed by heterosexual couples.
Changing Traditions: The concept of “traditional marriage” has evolved over time, and historical accuracy does not support the idea that marriage has always been strictly between a man and a woman.
Gender Definition: Insisting on defining marriage based on gender begs the question of how gender itself is defined. Supporters of gay marriage argue that gender should not be the sole criterion for marriage.

 @9FKJ4GDNew Democraticfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

Marriage can be defined in many ways and not only a man and a woman. This is a hurtful statement against the 2SLGBTQIA community and shouldn’t be though about like this.

 @B2MG8GXLiberalfrom Ontario  disagreed…2mos2MO

Marriage is a legal process all couples should have the right to, and another’s sexual preference should not concern you.

 @9FFC6GGfrom Ontario  disagreed…2yrs2Y

What gives heterosexual people more rights than gay people? When straight people get married, there is no harm done to the world. It goes the same for gay people. The only difference between gay and straight marriages is gender. Everyone can love anybody they want, regardless of gender. We are all human and nobody should have their ability to love be taken away

 @9LXB9ZW from Ontario  disagreed…11mos11MO

In modern society, marriage is just a pleasant fantasy world, like a theme park. Open it up to any adult who would be allowed through those gates, so long as they've had a stiff drink beforehand.

 @9SS5L9Y from Ontario  disagreed…7mos7MO

Why is it an issue if they get married? It doesn’t affect you in the slightest. it also only makes people happier, creates a safe haven for members of the LGBTQ community.

 @B4DTNF6 from Ontario  disagreed…2 days2D

I believe you should be able to marry whoever you choose to marry as you should marry the one you fell inlove with
