Saying yes to the CEO pay cap would cause the business they own to grow much slower due to how they wouldn't have as much money to put back into the business. This would also be money taken away from something like the wages of people under that CEO. This would especially be a problem for CEO that lead cutting edge fields like apple. If they didn't have as much money to put into their business then we probably would have developed things like phones much slower and we could still be on something like the blackberry right now. Another big reason if that money creates motivation and without as much there creates a lower drive to create cutting edge things like new phones because the reward for doing so isn't as big. If there isn't that motivation aspect then they wouldn't spend those long nights inventing, they the motivation to go into business school might now be overshadowed by the motivation to go to art school all this would lead to slower development in not only the tech industry, but even things which people consider more necessary such as healthcare, and safety. I think this is also a step towards communism which I mean might help my point might not depending on how highly you think of a communist society compared to the one you currently live in.
