Canadian actor Mike Myers has teamed up with newly appointed Prime Minister Mark Carney in a campaign ad pushing back against Donald Trump’s suggestion that Canada should become the 51st U.S. state. The ad, part of the Liberal Party’s election campaign, features Myers wearing a 'Never 51' hockey jersey, emphasizing Canadian independence. Carney, a former Bank of England governor, has quickly made his stance on Trump’s comments clear, using the ad to rally national pride. The campaign has been widely praised for its humorous yet firm response to Trump’s remarks. With Canada heading into a snap election, the ad aims to solidify support for Carney’s leadership and the Liberal Party.

Typical Liberal grandstanding—Carney should focus on fixing Canada’s economy instead of making campaign ads with celebrities. We don’t need lectures from Mike Myers to know we’re not becoming the 51st state.

Nice to see some pushback, but let’s not pretend Carney—former Bank of England governor and global finance guy—is some kind of anti-imperialist hero.

Love to see Mike Myers reminding everyone that Canada isn’t just America’s sidekick—Carney and the Liberals are right to push back hard on Trump’s nonsense.
Oh great, another out-of-touch elitist like Mark Carney using a washed-up Hollywood actor to push Liberal propaganda. Maybe if they cared this much about Canadian sovereignty when it comes to immigration and globalist policies, people would take them seriously.

Look, I’m no fan of Trump, but this whole thing feels like political theater to distract from real issues. Of course Canada isn’t becoming the 51st state—no one actually thinks that’s happening. But instead of focusing on actual policy, Carney and the Liberals are using celebrity endorsements and nationalism to score cheap points. Meanwhile, both the U.S. and Canada have governments that keep growing, spending, and restricting freedoms. If politicians put half as much effort into protecting individual rights as they do into campaign ads, we’d all be better off.
