Mark Carney, the former central banker, is set to replace Justin Trudeau as Canada's prime minister after a decisive victory in the Liberal Party leadership race. Carney met with Trudeau to discuss the transition, assuring Canadians that the process will be 'quick' and 'seamless.' While he has not provided a specific timeline, his leadership marks a significant shift for the party. Carney, a political outsider in Parliament, is expected to bring a fresh approach to governance. His leadership will likely focus on economic stability and positioning Canada on the global stage, particularly in relation to U.S. politics.

Not gonna lie, I’m a bit skeptical about Carney stepping in as PM without ever having been elected to Parliament. Sure, he’s got the economic chops, but does he actually have a vision for tackling inequality, climate change, and corporate greed? The Liberals need to prove they’re more than just a revolving door for elites if they want to keep progressive voters on board. If Carney is just Trudeau 2.0 with a finance background, people are gonna start looking elsewhere real fast.
