We want to believe that our success in life were based on our own hard work and skills, and that race had nothing to do with it, or at least that's the society we want to strive for. However, that's not the society we live in, and it's hard for white people like me to admitted that white privilege still exists because it means that there was something other then our hard work and skills that allowed us to succeed. White privilege goes against the very idea of socially mobile and classless society we want to have in Canada. Also, as a white person it's really hard to tell when your skin colour is a benefit. No one tells you that you were hired over a black person because your are white, or that you were let off with a warning instead of a ticket because you're white.
