Without rules, self-driving cars could be dangerous and unsafe. Regulations make sure these cars meet safety standards and protect people. They also help car makers follow clear guidelines and build trust. Without these rules, we might risk using the technology in harmful ways.

At this time the technology is not good enough. There are plenty of reports of cars auto-correcting people into dangers and accidents as is.

Yes, if somebody has to be held accountable, but I am against the idea of autonomous vehicles in most situations for that very reason—who will be held accountable in the event of an accident?
