Should a politician, who has been formerly convicted of a crime, be allowed to run for office?

The people who have selected "No" agree with the overall idea that criminial politicans soil the image of the nation and don't have the best interest in mind for civilians. It is better to have a politician who's record is clean as can be for they will have the interests of the public in mind and will maintain a positive image of the nation.
