No, this will encourage people not to work and harm economic growth
Having Universal basic income would create less demand for companies to have to raise wages which in turn would help economic growth. Some of the unemployment is people who have grown apathetic to the market and apathetic to capitalism, Ubi would encourage them to pick up a side job.
