In 2024 global leaders including Joe Biden, Rishi Sunak and Emmanuel Macron publicly questioned the leadership of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Their criticisms came after the Gaza War reached a stalemate in March 2024 as Israel was planning an invasion of the Gaza City of Rafah. Western leaders insisted that all civilians should be evacuated from the city prior to an invasion. Netanyahu responded by saying that Israel is "not a banana republic" and doesn't listen to the other countries when security is on the line. Western leaders fear that if the Rafah invasion happens without an evacuation a further massacre of Palestinian citizens will take place. Israel political observers note that Netanyahu is incentivized to prolong the war since he will likely be voted out of office at its conclusion.

It is not our business to interfere in the democratic politics of an allied nation.
@9TXBP2YIndependent6mos6MO
We should continue to support peace, and maintain dialogue to help end conflict.
@9TNKJ9H7mos7MO
No, but it shouldn't actively try to undermine it either
@9WYDMSD5mos5MO
No and we should not give any support to israel, instead we should cut all ties to israel.
Our government should only support Israeli leadership if they are prepared to work towards a proper peaceful resolution to the conflict.
@9TH4SPWConservative7mos7MO
I don’t think Canada should be getting involved there.
@9TC7PPGConservative7mos7MO
Neither. The government shouldn't have a bias for a foreign country's leadership.
@9MXJRLQ10mos10MO
No, and Canada should side with the ICC and ensure that Benjamin Netanyahu is criminally prosecuted for crimes against humanity.
@9M6T2SM11mos11MO
I don't support the government sympathizing with either side.
NO and no to supporting ANY foreign government. That's their problem. Keep our governing bodies as small as possible and for the SOLE benefit of Canada and Canadian's welfare.
