As always, it is Hamas who uses civilians as human shields, to save them from casualties and to demonise Israel. And it is Hamas who attacked first, broke the ceasefire, and deliberately killed and abducted hundreds of Israeli civilians. While Israel places the protection and safety of their citizens over their military, Hamas does the exact opposite, putting them as well as Israeli hostages in the firing line as fodder and deterrents putting Israel between a rock and a hard place. If they don't attack these positions, such as the Rafah opening, Hamas will fire their rockets and missiles at them, and if they do, Palestinian civilians forced to stay put will be killed, and half the world will condemn the Israelis as "war criminals"; either way, they lose. For years now, Israel has had this enemy who wants to kill every last of them, and after four wars, Israel has finally, and I do mean finally, had enough. The rest of the world can afford the continued existence of Hamas, but Israel cannot! And for all these reasons, the day Hamas ceases to exist, will not be a day too soon - for Israel or Palestine.
