A cease-fire will only allow Hamas to rebuild and arm themselves again. They want to prepare for future attacks and prolong the cycle of violence rather than end it. Increased military pressure is necessary to secure the release of the hostages and dismantle Hamas‘s military capabilities. A cease-fire without clear conditions will signal weakness and bold in Hamas and other militant groups to launch future attacks. Previous these fires have often been temporary with him using them to recover before launching new attacks, which means a lasting resolution is unlikely while Hamas continues to hold any power. Pausing military action without concrete concessions like surrender or leadership change will undermine Israel’s position and negotiations.
