In fact every doctor in Autism research should be fired, because it is mostly non-Autistic people.
They often spread the “vaccines cause autism” conspiracy theory and even prescribe gluten and dairy free diets because they say it “helps autism” when it doesn’t when it only helps with co-morbidities like gut issues. On top of recommending ABA therapy, which is abuse, it takes the Autism out of the Autistic, and many Autistics, myself included have ptsd from ABA.
We never have our voices heard, and we are sensitive and often we get violently touched or restrained, or forced eye contact or yelled. Sometimes hit too. Or they won’t get their favourite thing like an iPad or sensory toy until they comply with the therapist. When it comes to Autism research we need to listen to Autistic voices and not doctors or moms with Autism, who talk over us, and then as a result we are stereotyped, where most peoples views on autism are either children, serial killers or sex perverts or geniuses like sheldon Cooper in “the big bang theory”.
All in all, 2/3s of the doctors in Ontario should be penalized due to their misinformation on Autism alone. All over the world too. It’s rigged as all hell.
