Individuals CAN have an impact but in most cases the important changes come from govenrment or corporate decisions.

 @9HCCVDZfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

Is important both as individual and a corporate level because we can start with ourself and after we can see the changes.

 @9HCM99RPeople’sfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

I think the most important is, first, for actions to be implemented at a government or corporate level because it sets an expectation and example. If these were not in place and instead individual actions were the only ones taken, the changes would not be seen on an impactful scale.

 @9H9RB5Lfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

I believe both the government and individual actions have an impact, but the government more so.

 @9HBL7K3from Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

I feel as though both groups can do more to help with the enviroment. Just me alone is not going to help

 @9HB3MV2from Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

Your actions not only determine how many GHGs you physically put in the atmosphere, but also, perhaps more importantly, your words and actions influence others.

 @9HBC5FTfrom Alberta  answered…12mos12MO

I think that everyone should be taking part in helping the environment. We all release wastes everyday and some people even litter. I think that there should be a fine for littering if caught and that the government should also find a way to produce less trash, carbon, and other emissions.

 @9HBNVY3Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

I think it is more important for changes to be made at a governmental level as this encourages people to make individual changes.

 @9HBQ2D2from Saskatchewan  answered…12mos12MO

I think that individual contributions count but that most of the progress should be done by the government.

 @9HCMW67from Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

As individuals our changes do very little. Hugely populated countries such as China are the major polluters.

 @9H82FB7from Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

It is more important for changes to be made at a government or coporate level because there needs to be enviromental laws to build a sustainable enviroment.

 @9H9QP5Vfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

It is possible if a person has enough public leverage and has their own power gang or association.

 @9H9T9D2from Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

I believe individual action have an impact on the environment. All the individual acts build up over time to become a big impact.

 @9H9TJ8Kfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

Individuals should be in control of how they affect the environment and that the government should change it too because they can have a large affect on how the environment is changing.

 @9HBV6FXLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

Changes at government and corporate level as even with individuals won’t be enough to make a change.

 @9HB42J5from Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

I believe both the government and individual actions have a significant impact on the environment, however the government more.

 @9HBJZMCfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

Both, both are good because one person can change more than just them they can change there hole family then that family will talk to another family and therefor changing that family basically spreading not a disease but a better environmental view.

 @9HBK4JNLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

Individual actions have a smaller impact on the environment compared to big corporations. I believe that the government should take more control and change.

 @9HB67G5from Manitoba  answered…12mos12MO

 @9HB52R5New Democraticfrom Manitoba  answered…12mos12MO

 @9HBP2GLfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

I feel that it's more important for changes to be made at a corporate level because everyone has there own opinion

 @9H9RMMVfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

It is unrealistic to imagine people will mobilize against climate change without government or corporate change. Single people of course cannot make change without immense activism.

 @9HBT66Cfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

i think changes should be made with government or corporate level because one single person won’t create problems

 @9HBYT88from Alberta  answered…12mos12MO

The changes from the individual are far too small to make a great impact within a certain time period. The biggest problem lies in corporations and government and therefor they should be the ones expected to make and be held responsible for the important, heavy changes

 @9H9VHH3Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

yes the person is responsible for tasking care of the environment and the government should support them

 @9HCF5MLfrom Nova Scotia  answered…12mos12MO

I do not think one individual can even scrape the surface of fixing the climate crisis.

 @9HBBRVPNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

I believe individual actions don't have a significant impact unless if it's done regularly.

 @9HCGMCTfrom Ontario  answered…12mos12MO

I think changes need to be made on a larger scale because big companies impact the environment the most.

 @9TFK29Qfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Some individual actions do have a larger impact, when compared with the population. But other issues need the government and corporate level's help.

 @9TFK7JCfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

I think that if you look at everyone who helps the envirourment together it makes a smaller difference but its a bigger difference the longer time passes, the more people the sooner the bigger the difference.

 @9TFHDPQfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

 @9TDFHRVfrom Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

While individual actions certainly have an effect on the environment, they are not as significant as changes implemented at governmental and/or corporate levels. There will always be someone or some group that won't be willing to do their part, so it's best to ensure that as many groups as possible begin changing their habits. There is always strength in numbers.

 @9TCR8FRfrom Saskatchewan  answered…2mos2MO

I think that individual actions can make a significant impact on the environment for sure but there needs to be changed made at a governmental level for sure

 @9TCQM3Danswered…2mos2MO

both actually, individual needs to be aware from their side and do as best as they can to protect the environment. Government on the other hand must stricter the rules to protect environment.

 @9TB6JG5from Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

I feel like the government can’t make any changes because without individuals nothing will be done.

 @9T9YFWZConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…2mos2MO

no, we should not help the environment, as climate change is inevitable. We should instead focus on public transit

 @9TB3ZHCfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Individual actions can play a part in the fight in the climate crisis. However it is obvious that the small ripples of the many will not be able to account for the tidal waves of the few. Our only hope is that the tidal waves lift us up and carry us the right way.

 @9T8FDXGfrom Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

Individual actions when done in numbers can of course make an impact. However, this doesn't mean that governmental/corporate changes can't make a similarly large - if not bigger - positive impact on the environment.

 @9T86592from Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

I personally think that it is more important for changes to be made on a governmental level, because the environment is a worldwide problem, and one person can't change the world. Even if a group of 1000 people together wouldn't be able to change pollution, exterminate the use of fossil fuels and all the other environmental problems in the world.

 @9T7BTG5New Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

I think individuals can have an impact but I think it's more important for changes to be made at a larger level. The majority of emissions are coming from large corporations, not individual people, so they're the ones that need to be better regulated.

 @9T6YQVCLiberalfrom Mindoro Occidental  answered…2mos2MO

A small action of an individual would be considered nothing to the whole problem but many individuals doing the same thing can have a significant impact on the environment. While individuals can help even if it's minute, it is up to the government and the corporate world to take bigger actions that would allow a significant progress that would encourage individuals to do the same.

 @9T6TP9Ffrom British Columbia  answered…2mos2MO

Absolutely not. Most emissions arise from corporations taking advantage of the monopoly brought along with late stage capitalism, and use recycling campaigns to fool the public into believing they can make a difference. It is the responsibility of the government to regulate these companies and reduce emissions by providing better power alternatives such as nuclear energy.

 @9T6H6Z7from Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Individual actions can have a lasting impact, there are many ways to help the environment but our current government is not doing that.

 @9T622DDfrom British Columbia  answered…3mos3MO

Individuals and the government can make changes. The government should be doing there part just as much as everyone else, by simple things like recycling and composting.

 @9SZJ8T4Liberalfrom Alberta  answered…3mos3MO

 @9SZ2Z7PConservativefrom Alberta  answered…3mos3MO

 @9SXSZ2Pfrom Ohio  answered…3mos3MO

 @9SWJ4RXfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

 @9SVFGXLanswered…3mos3MO

Individual actions are just as important as the actions of a government or corporation. Environmental issues cannot be fixed without one or the other

 @9QX93KGGreenfrom British Columbia  answered…4mos4MO

Every little bit helps, but I think the biggest changes need to be made at a corporate and governmental level, as those have the most impact. But I still believe it’s important for everyone to do what they can

 @9QSYXP9from Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

Both individual actions and systemic changes at the governmental and corporate levels are essential for environmental impact.
Individual actions:
Encourage personal responsibility and awareness
Governmental and corporate changes:
Create frameworks for long-term, structural change

 @9QSYQCSfrom Ontario  answered…4mos4MO

I think that individual actions are a good start to making change, but I also think that in order to make a bigger difference these actions should be encouraged by the government of in schools.

 @9QQVYPLfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Yes no matter what individual actions can have a impact to the envirenment like any other actions could.

 @9QQVKZBfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, because a select few individuals, such as Taylor Swift are responsible for most of the carbon emissions.

 @9QQMRLDfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

No i believe people outside of the government have and should have a lot to say as they are out of the restricted environment

 @9QQK6KFLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Individual actions can have a significant impact on the environment if everybody as an individual is doing it, so obviously people have to make small changes to their lifestyle to reduce emissions. On the other hand, larger changes (switching energy sources) has to be done at a governmental/corporate level, so both have a large impact, but larger changes from governmental/corporate level will have a larger impact because it doesn't depend on people willing to change.

 @9QQJ3YRNew Democraticfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

 @9Q54XLFfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

Yes, individuals working within the free market will always be more effective than government regulation

 @9PZ8ZPNfrom Nova Scotia  answered…5mos5MO

I think if everyone closed the cycle of waste within their homes, through green hobbies they enjoy, that it would help the environment drastically. That said, the planet is being destroyed by companies for profit. Not citizens.

 @9PXSBSYfrom Ontario  answered…5mos5MO

I believe that a governmental and corporal level of environmentalism dictates individual actions of environmentalism.

 @9PT533Jfrom British Columbia  answered…5mos5MO

Due to economies of scale, waste at the government or corporate level will always outpace waste at the individual level.

 @9T54XB4from Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

It is important that actions are performed by large groups of people, regardless of status.

 @9T3PHHPfrom Alberta  answered…3mos3MO

Individual actions do nothing. It is significantly more important for changes to be made at a governmental and corporate level.

 @9T32HZQfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Both are needed but individuals should and need to change their ways of conducting themselves. Limiting your personal use of plastics and pollutants is critical

 @9T2Z7Y5from Alberta  answered…3mos3MO

While yes I believe impact on the environment can be done on an individual level, I think that a bigger impact can be made on a government level such as putting more responsibilities on the corporations and enacting laws and regulations on private jet use.

 @9T29GLMfrom Alberta  answered…3mos3MO

governments and corporations are the ones who will make the biggest impact on our environment

 @9SZKVH5Liberalfrom Ontario  answered…3mos3MO

Yes it does impact individual actions based on how they treat their environmental surroundings and what their values including awareness reflects on their respect for Mother Nature. However this needs to be both in a governmental and corporate level because it is very important to prioritize the safety of living mammals all around us and to strongly support geological and geographical preservation of the region in order to keep our country livable and sustainable.

 @9VRMJPYNew Democraticfrom Montana  answered…1mo1MO

Unfortunately not enough can be done individually

Western individualism is an interesting thing. I personally feel it’s been used to trick the general population into removing the blame from the larger corporate polluters and taking it on as something that can be solved on an individual basis. The sad reality is there is very little that someone on an individual scale can do compared to what is done on a massive corporate level. There needs to be widespread systematic changes for enough to be done.
