Yes

Students shouldn't have to spend there lives paying back a debt for jobs that the government is needing suppoorted.

 @B2C8RCM from British Columbia  agreed…2mos2MO

Gaining a degree is not a guarantee of success, it is not fair to offload the costs of failure onto the successful

 @9GVZYQMfrom Saskatchewan  disagreed…1yr1Y

The idea of it is, you go to university to be able to get a well paying job. Once you graduate, and get that job, you should have no problem paying them back. It’s not the government’s fault if you went to university for a degree without actually looking into the types of jobs you’ll be able to obtain and its salaries just because you wanted to pick something you’re passionate about. Save that as a Hobby. If you went for an arts degree, there’s a good chance you’d have trouble paying it back, so be prepared for that. Research jobs/salaries you can get with…  Read more

 @9ZNVSL3Independentfrom Ontario  disagreed…4mos4MO

Higher education should be payed for my both parents and government along with studen success throughout school.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...1yr1Y

No, we should instead focus on decreasing the cost of education

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

How would your perspective on college change if tuition were free, and how might that impact society?

 @9WVMXV3 from New Brunswick  answered…4mos4MO

If tuition were free, a lot more people would go to university or college because it's more accessible meaning more people in our future generation will be more educated and we will ave more doctors and teachers and other people in professions we need more of. Some kids, like myself, grew up never even considering going to college or university because they knew it was out of reach due to the cost, education should not be out of reach.

 @9WQ4K26from Alberta  answered…5mos5MO

I believe colleges and universities would be more accessible to society and lower income families creating a society with high education.

 @9WQ46XGfrom Manitoba  answered…5mos5MO

would create much more workers but colleges and universities would become overcrowded.

 @9WQ3PJWNew Democraticfrom Quebec  answered…5mos5MO

If it were free there would be students there just wasting time and space for students who really want to be there.

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...1yr1Y

No, it is the student’s responsibility to manage their financial outcome

 @B2C8RCM from British Columbia  disagreed…2mos2MO

Students must carefully consider the future of their studies and whether they will be useful. Degrees are also far less valuable than previously. Gaining real life experience and learning direct skills are far more valuable

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...1yr1Y

Yes, but more liability for lower income degrees and minimal to no liability for high income degrees

 @ISIDEWITHDiscuss this answer...1yr1Y

Yes, but only if they are for profit universities

 @B38NB7TLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…2wks2W

No, higher education should be free for everyone and the government should be held accountable for the state of the labour pool and wages.

 @B2TWT9HConservativefrom Alberta  answered…1mo1MO

No, it was the students choice to study in a university. Knowing the tuition fees are high. I know that it is hard, but nothing is impossible if they have the drive or determination to make up for their financials.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

What alternative paths to career success (i.e., trade schools, apprenticeships) do you think are undervalued, and why?

 @9TQZW7Cfrom Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

In your view, who should bear the brunt of student loan debt—the student, the university, or society?

 @9TQWX6J from Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

i believe it should be balance of all three, to pick one is to add a weight to them and toss them at sea

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

How do you think student loan debt affects your decisions about your future career or life goals?

 @9TNKRFQfrom Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

I think when you get behind in studen loan debt it can affect what house you’ll buy, etc..

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

Can you imagine a world where education is treated as a right rather than a privilege? How would that change society?

 @9TKM3QWfrom Ontario  answered…6mos6MO

If education was a right instead of a privilege, our society would flourish with creative and innovative minds that otherwise may have never been given the chance with our current education system. It would allow citizens to explore various subjects and ultimately be more knowledgeable on many subjects, improving the functionality and awareness on critical topics in our country.

 @B2HHSTVfrom Alberta  answered…2mos2MO

They should be responsible to inform prospective and current students of the current and projected incomes for graduates of any program.

 @B2GBJ4Sfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

Unemployment rates are directly relative to the country's economy. I believe it is not the university's fault if graduates cannot find a suitable job. I believe it is irresponsible for the country to allow lucrative costs for higher education, especially during a period with high unemployment rates.

 @9PZM4L4from Quebec  answered…8mos8MO

the price to enter a college course should be adjusted based on said degree's Leading job income so that students don't have to waste thousands of dollars they don't need and don't have to worry about how they will repay their student loans.

 @9MZ37W7from Nova Scotia  answered…10mos10MO

The federal government should ensure that university graduates are able to get jobs in their fields and these jobs pay a reasonable wage

 @9K6M454from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, this should be considered a threat of all odds to indepedence, there should be support services for this incase imo.

 @Prosperitarian from New York  answered…1yr1Y

No, and higher education should be free to everyone who is below median net wealth

 @9HVPFK4from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, if they are for profit universities and make a liability proportional to the expected yearly income of the degree offered, and if courses offered are not relevant to high income jobs.

 @9HCP7QVfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

No. It is the student’s responsiblity to manage their financial outcome. Student loans should be harder to acquire and only applicable to certain programs.

 @9H34J25Libertarianfrom Alberta  answered…1yr1Y

Stop the government from giving out student loans and universities will be forced to lower tuitions or have no students.

 @9FPKZXKCommunistfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

 @9FP3QX2from Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

University should never be paid. Paid university is a system that only serves to keep the lower class in poverty.

 @9TZ2XJYfrom British Columbia  answered…6mos6MO

no its the cost of living that makes going to school almost hard to manage. Education shouldnt have to take 15 years or more to pay off

 @9RQNPMRfrom Nova Scotia  answered…7mos7MO

The government and universities should work together to only produce graduates with the skills we need. Like they do in Norway

 @9ZK3JNSfrom British Columbia  answered…4mos4MO

Yes, but education should be free. universities should pay a fine for each student who ends up in a low income job by the 10th year they are out of university and this should pay enough to fund a small rebate they should receive 3 times a year until they reach the age of retirement.

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

To what extent do you believe universities should be held accountable for the job prospects and earnings of their graduates?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

Do you think taking on debt for higher education is worth the opportunities it may provide, or are there better alternatives?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

If you were given the power to restructure how universities are funded, what would you change and why?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

Do you believe that the government should have more responsibility in helping students avoid massive debt? Why or why not?

 @ISIDEWITHasked…6mos6MO

How do you think student loan debt impacts mental health, and is enough attention given to this issue?
