Far too many innocent people are convicted under the death penalty, and this denigrates the state's image of respecting human rights if we allow innocent people to be executed. We would also face massive legal costs being sued by families under wrongful death/conviction lawsuits, so it is better to face life in prison, which keeps potentially innocent people alive but also makes those who are guilty face the consequences of their actions. It is also not a deterrent as there are many reasons as to why people commit crimes, and some of them are justified though they are legally against the law. So no, I am not for the death penalty and never will be.
