Would it not be wiser for the government to invest in saving and restructuring these homes to provide housing for the homeless and as a way to assist people with low incomes to be able to afford housing? I don't believe there is justification for housing developments to continue to spread into farmland or natural inhabitant. These are natural resources that we can not afford to squander. In areas where houses are beyond the point where it would not be cost-efficient to repair, then they should be torn down to make room for new structures. If the question is asking if the government should subsidize building contractors, my answer is no. The subsidies should only be at the level of helping to provide affordable housing for those that truly can't.
