No with an emphasis on encouraging communities to allow small backyard housing with not extra charge for infrastructure (ie: garbage, water, sewer, etc) And yes in the form of tax credits for building or adding a suite or backyard structure to an existing home.

 @9TWK4RLConservativefrom Ontario  answered…7mos7MO

No, I feel us as a country cannot financially support this currently. But I do feel that if the government was to subsidize the building of any homes it should be for Canadian veterans.

 @9RDL9D3Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…9mos9MO

We need more housing but it shouldn’t be paid for by taxpayers. Tax incentives and other government initiatives to build more work better.

 @9RCF532Conservativefrom British Columbia  answered…9mos9MO

They should do so in the form of removing regulations and they should build affordable housing in key cities and increase the number to 2 million

 @9J4QTKJConservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes and no, regardless it is at the expense of farmland and green space, which I do not support but We need to focus on spreading out the population throughout Canada instead of individuals migrating in cities and increasing the housing markets in places like Vancouver and Toronto. There also shouldn’t be money spent on this when there’s bigger issues.

 @9JZV4G6Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Focus on the mess you've already created. Stop messing with our farmland and green space. Have somewhere for people to go. Empty schools in my town, exist. Turn it into a shelter. Empty buildings that aren't housed by stores any more. Turn those into shelters.

 @9GNXSP7Conservativefrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, however, we should create 1 million homes outside metropolitan areas and repair 400,000 existing houses that are currently not vacated.

 @9FF93ZPfrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

I feel like this could be a great thing, but mostly depends on where the houses get built. If they build them in Toronto or Vancouver then they're going to be way overpriced, but if they're built in smaller, rural areas, people would actually be able to afford living there.

 @9D8PLJBConservativefrom Quebec  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, subsidize and encourage both canadian and foreign construction companies to build more houses

 @96LMFQBfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

No, they should seek to remove the legislative barriers to new housing construction and limit foreign home ownership

 @96G5TWXConservativefrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

If we have enough money and won't go into a deficit, then yes, build more houses.

 @95SHK28Conservativefrom Saskatchewan  answered…3yrs3Y

building houses might help but building them won't help any if the people they are meant for can't afford them also I don't want to take away farmland and if possible reduce the cost of some houses to make it more affordable

 @93WL6VFfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes, but prime farmland and important wildlife ecosystems such as provincial parks or important wetlands, must not be developed over.

Canadians shouldn’t be paying the price we are when the “ problem” is back log and goods shortage but all our goods are home grown here in canada so i dont see why we need other countries to rely on for materials for housing

Build a quarter of what was planned without interfering with farmland and green space while also repairing and rebuilding the old homes.

Depends on how much money the government has and how high it is on the priority list

 @8VMRNB6from Saskatchewan  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VMRBXMConservativefrom Quebec  answered…4yrs4Y

they should build more homes for homeless people because i bet there is more than 1.4 million homeless people

 @8VMM2C6Conservativefrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Place more funding to building apartment buildings and small living quarters, not housing.

 @8VM6NRBfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

The government should build houses according to the demand for new infrastructure.

Neutral, Rebuild or repair most existing homes and subsidize a smaller amount of new homes.

 @97T4JZCConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Normally, Yes, but not at the expense of greenspace, farmland, and at the moment we can't afford it right now. We should also repair/rebuild existing houses

 @979SKFCConservativefrom Newfoundland  answered…2yrs2Y

No, create more affordable housing options on all fronts (renting, buying, building etc).

 @96SPRLYConservativefrom Alberta  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, only if the location of these homes has the infrastructure to support it.

 @8VSVHVKConservativefrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8VPNWS4from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

It depends on the fact that our carbon tax will raise the amount of money we will have in the governments' bank

 @8VHQ7XYConservativefrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

Governments don't build homes...can you imaging the bureaucratic waste? They should incentivize the private sector to build the homes.
