they shouldn't be allowed to use military grade equipment because although it is unlikely there is still a chance for it to get stolen and used for robberies and possibly hurting people.

no because that gives the police force power to inflict racial inequality, more people of skin would be dying because of an "misunderstanding" on the cops behalf.

Yes, only in severe situations. Example: mass terrorism event, and where they are working along side special units of the military as backup in these events.

if you arm a organization like police with military grade equipment the forces they come against will also begin arming with deadlier weaponry in an never ending cycle.

Back when I was a child, growing up in a family of police officers, cops had the standard equiptment and used it to the best of their knowledge and ability, based on the situation they were about to enter. The weapons they carry are not conducive to the reason(s) they use it, i.e. guns don't kill, people do. It's all about the mindset of the officer, not the weapon. If you have a trigger-happy cop, it's not going to matter what he's/she's carrying
