I believe new agency could potentially be added, you might call it the Canadian Emergency Worker Education Bureau or something of those that would be in charge of allocating funds and setting a curriculum for all emergency workers such as police officers, firefighters, EMT workers so that the education might be of a higher quality and standardized nation wide. Their jurisdiction would be handling trainees. Once the individual has graduated they leave the CWEB and enter their preferred field. This would allow us to take some money from current services and make sure the funds are used for training and education specifically.

No, increase spending for training on de-escalation and conflict resolution and hire social workers to aid in police responses.

 @95CHLHCLibertarianfrom British Columbia  answered…3yrs3Y

No, it shouldn't be redirected but just cut all together and replaced with private police.

 @93NRKCFLibertarianfrom Alberta  answered…3yrs3Y

No. I would first want more funding and training for police while also providing funding for social and community based programs. If within 5-10 years the social and community based programs are working to reduce crime, then we can dial back the funding and training for police.

I believe that we should give the police more but also give some for programs but majority police

Yes and No, allocate funding for policing training and education, but also allocate some funding into social community-based programs that have shown to decrease criminality within the community.

 @8XHXL3XLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

I believe yes and no because of the lack of caring for people the police have in canada

 @8VLVZP3from Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

We need the police yet I believe there could more public resources available

 @8VDKY7WLibertarianfrom Saskatchewan  answered…4yrs4Y

Police should be trained in the necessary fields, but certain issues need to be addressed by specialists (I.E phycologists, firemen).

 @8RR4GCLfrom New Brunswick  answered…4yrs4Y

Keep funding for the police the way it is now but commit to Police Reform

 @8R3SFYZLibertarianfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Funding for the police should be spent on better training for officers instead of more equipment

 @8QTKBDLLibertarianfrom British Columbia  answered…4yrs4Y

The police need more funding and we need separate but additional funding for social/community based programs.

 @8QTGVGYLibertarianfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Yes, they are underfunded already and increase their education program to four years.

 @8PJMGYMfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, only some funding should be reallocated, but allow the local police gain body-cams from funding to be held accountable more. REFORM THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM

 @8NX2L92from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @8NWJ3SPLibertarianfrom Alberta  answered…4yrs4Y

Redirect police to focus on real crimes that impact persons & property. With less enforcement & funding for chasing down victimless or "crimes against society"

 @8NWJ2SSfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

funding should be directed towards educating police on human behaviour and rehabilitation for prisoners

 @8NW4XRPLibertarianfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

 @iAmCodeMonkeyLibertarianfrom Ontario  answered…5yrs5Y

This is a good idea, but we should not get rid of the police completely. We should be helping vulnerable people to not gravitate towards criminal activity in the first place and help them get support.

 @99HN34Hfrom British Columbia  answered…2yrs2Y

Policing needs better training but also on drug calls should have a social worker come out with them

 @986T47Fanswered…2yrs2Y

Decrease funding for everything & reduce government control over economy

 @8TJ6R6RLibertarianfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Decriminalize all drugs and allocate the drug enforcement funds to a drug rehabilitation unit

  @buday4vancouverLibertarian from Washington  answered…4yrs4Y

No, the Federal Government shouldn't fund any of it. Personally: Eliminate the Patrol, Beat, Vice, and Car 87/Wellness Check cops.
