Yes, partially, the police still need some level of funding but funding other social and community based programs would ease some of the burdens and minimize incidents of police violence and abuse of power

 @B2VP4JZfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

funding should not be redirected, but there should be more funding available for social and community based programs on top of police budget

yes, but not fully because there is more then just non violent/ dangeris criminals

 @92RGJ4Zfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

No, but funding needs to be directed to another arm to help respond to mental and low-level community issues

 @8YZ8QLBfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Yes and no, I agree with both options since both the police and social and community services also need funding.

Police should have better training and they should learn how to handle situations with as little violence possible maybe even without weapons (depends on the circumstance).

 @8XNY52Lfrom Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

If a police does something wrong, such as murder (unless needed to save their life) or theft, they should be put in jail. If murder because of taking advantage of their power and a person, should get life in jail or atleast 20-50 years with no bail option.

Yes, introduce co-op programs in which mental health professionals work alongside plain clothed police officers.

They should be training the cops better cops are (pussies who need a gun to feel safe)

 @8PV79T9from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Pivot funding towards training towards problem-solving training and similar things.

 @8PV52KRfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Funding shouldn't be cut but there should be a lot more social community based programs

 @8PQ96CVfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Should partially redirect funding for preventative and mental health issues.

 @8PMZB4Zfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

General funding should be half to the community programs and half to the police

 @9CX6JT9from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes, and most move partial funding to auxiliary teams with specialized skills who would be accompanied by police on call.

 @9CJGFV4Greenfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Some police funding, especially for paramilitary equipment, should be redirected to social and community programs, along with better education for first responders and additional alternatives to jail for non-violent or ill people (e.g. drunk, overdosed, psychological distress, etc)

 @9BBDR3Xfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Some funding should be redirected to social and community based programs and police should be replaced with mental-health professionals for mental-health related calls, but not all funding.

 @97C25TLfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No but small reduction of funding to restructure police systems doesn’t hurt

 @8VHS9VHGreenfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, increase funding that specifically goes towards no violent training methods
