I think funding should be distributed amongst the police department and social/community based programs. A collaborative approach should be developed to better respond to a variety of needs in the community.

 @9DWFG68from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Yes. Fund real education programs, de stigmatize and legalize drugs responsibly and prioritize prosecuting real criminals for violent offenses

 @B32LMFGfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

I think that we should split it evenly unless really needed, since some police departments get more funding then needed

 @B2WM99Bfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

he funding should be split between the social and community based programs and the local police departments fairly.

 @B2SXRKSfrom Ontario  answered…2mos2MO

There should be incread funding for both local police departments and social and community based programs

 @9JJBL8Jfrom Ontario  answered…1yr1Y

Yes, increase funding to both police ressources and mental health / community responders for non-violent crimes

 @9FSXQWPConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

increase funding and training for police but also put a lot of funding into social and community based programs

 @9FPW8LSConservativefrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

fund the police more and increase training but also put in social/community based programs in high crime areas

 @8VRCWKXfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

no, but social and community based programs, and unarmed responders should recieve increased funding and be integrated with police.

 @8VKYL9PLiberalfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, police should require a degree and go through higher training once hired. Similar to those in European countries.

 @8VGSF37People’sfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

I think that it would be nice to replace police with unarmed community based responders for non-violent calls, however, I feel as if one of those calls may turn violent at some point in time. I also do support increased funding and training for police departments in higher crime rate communities.

 @8VDNFQBfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

no, increase funding and training for de escalation tactics and address best practices for managing people in a mental health crisis

 @8V9J4DPfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Just some portion of the budget should be directed to unarmed community based responders .

 @8V97782from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Funding for Police services should be frozen over the next 5-10 years and projected increased be sent to other social programs. Police have too much responsibility but are still a key part of our society.

 @8V57D64Greenfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but have community based responders work along side police for non-violent and mental health calls

 @8RP9TDPfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

We need police but we need mental health response units, composed of a police officer, a paramedic and a mental health professional, for some current police calls like mental health checks.

I think the police or mandatory but the government should start funding social and community based programs

 @8Q759XXfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

I believe there needs to be better use of police funding to better train police officers, and there needs to me more regulations on police officers to prevent those with racist views from being a police officer.

 @8Q2M8M3from Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

No, but there should be more funding in high crime areas so children get better education and are less likely to get pulled into crimes

 @9CM3RDYfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

 @9CLQQCHfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

No, but some money should be redirected toward different programs for non-violent (or similar) situations.

 @9BZXFD9from Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

Divert some police funding to social and community based programs, prioritize funding for mental health

 @99Q42RWfrom Ontario  answered…2yrs2Y

 @95XYRB8from Ontario  answered…3yrs3Y

Cooperation between these two sectors and more funding directed towards social and community support. Reducing funding for the police helps no one.

 @8TWZL2Kfrom Ontario  answered…4yrs4Y

Poorly worded question. Objective amount of funding will depend on local conditions. May be applicable in some jurisdictions, and not in others.
